Isn't this beast for sale on TGP?I wanted one of these when they 1st came out in ‘08.
I finally scored my ‘09 PRS DGT 10-Top in ‘15.
It was such a killer deal, I couldn’t pass it up.

Right? This is their "custom shop" pricing, so may as well call Kiesel at that point. World Music built, if I'm not mistaken. Which should mean that I could order 3 to 6 for under $1k/piece landed if I were a dealer. I will confess though, there are two Korean built guitars in my collection that I spent almost $3k on each after all was said and done with taxMIK for 5k?! Some Strandberg level business management lol
Kiesel? How about straight up Padalka?Right? This is their "custom shop" pricing, so may as well call Kiesel at that point. World Music built, if I'm not mistaken. They can build some very lovely instruments though and not at all disappointed.
Name brands, weird options, US electronics/hardware and expensive multiscale 8 string kahler bridges will do that.Kiesel? How about straight up Padalka?
You seem to know quite a lot about manufacturing guitars in Korea.
Wow, 3k! Show them please, I got curious again ?

They're amazing, but I wouldn't do it again, TBH.
Funny thing is the ML is a lot more comfortable than the Exile.
Are PRS necks SO huge? I tried not too many guitars in general, but never noticed difference in neck dimensions affect me. But I am not a good player and maybe some understanding will come with experience.PRS McCarty Double cut. Gold. Thin neck. Stop tail.
The thin neck makes this a custom shop job, so out of my budget.
Yes, they are large to me. I’ve had necks sanded before, but it’s not the same as getting a thinner neck from the get go.Are PRS necks SO huge? And if this dream is SO much desired, you can get the neck sanded at a professional guitar shop and escape the custom shop route. Resell value will drop, but I never care about resell value when chasing dreams.
I have an early Barlow and have tried more recent ones. Honestly they sound to me like furniture with strings attached as do most current made “boutique” guitars I’ve been through. They’re immaculate everywhere else but the sound part on a musical instrument. Go figure lol. The playability is excellent, frets, very well made, they look really cool, but most of these luthiers just don’t seem to value tone in their builds. Very strangeI really want a Barlow Osprey in a 9 for drop and an 11 for standard 7+bass. I really love them go ahead and laugh. Builder has double/tripled his prices in a short time though. ?

Also love that Explorer build by Crimson Guitars. That in a multiscale ?

Love these Balaguer builds I put together on their website, but $5k each for MIK without a case even. Tough sell...

Also a Violin shaped like a SG, and built from Fiemme Valley spruce. Sorry no pictures, no love out there.
Yes LP Jr. The right ‘60’s LP Jr’s are great too. I had 3 different ‘60’s SG Jr in the past, but now have instead a 1963 SG SpecialJr stands for an LP Jr? Because only other Jr that comes to mind is Rodriguez Jr, but timeframes do not align.
Marchione looks quite interesting. Show yours pls, tell about it more. What sets it apart?
What about some Ruokangas? Or Tom Bartlett? Or Gil Yaron? I heard they make sick LP-style guitars.
And Tao I rechecked now, to be sure. Honestly, looks like a carpentry class, and a weird one I must say. But hey, I am a barbarian of sorts, so I might be missing something and would gladly learn from you if I do. Has some Teuffel vibes too. In modern department I’d take a Carillion, EQ, Rusty, Padalka or goddamn Vik over it any day, any time.
That's crazy. I had the chance to play one that a dear friend of mine owns, and was astonished by it. I'm surprised anyone else knows of them. It kind of bothered me seeing them sell a few and then double or more the price overnight as if they were the next thing. Last I checked they seem to build around a dozen a year and sell maybe one. That was also when they were $3-4k, now at $8-12k. Dude can keep them. Anyway, these are more like "dream" guitars to me more than anything as they have absolutely no provenance, imo, to demand that kind of money despite the craftsmanship that may be involved.I have an early Barlow and have tried more recent ones. Oh, I see. Hope you reach your dream!Yes, they are large to me. I’ve had necks sanded before, but it’s not the same as getting a thinner neck from the get go.
Don't gig much these days outside of friends/family events. It's been a while tbh with raising kids and enjoying the semi-retired life. Working on a few projects though to keep myself busy, but mostly play these days for soul food.Ah, those two. They look quite nice. I guess I saw you post one today and questioned myself was it USA CS made or what.
By the way, I also read somewhere on the forum that you gig(?). You put these to use on the scene? ??

I could write an essay worth of stuff to answer that lol although within seconds of trying one it would answers it lol. Might be better to DM about them to not clog up too much this thread
My friend has had 2 different Ruokangas’s. I thought they were decent sounding, but nothing amazing to me. I’ve not tried a Yaron or Bartlett yet
Tao’s can look unusual for sure and I only like certain models that I’ve tried, but I only judge guitars by sound. I don’t care what they look like. I don’t really think any solid body guitars look inherently that great anyway
From my perspective of judging guitar by sound I thought the Teuffel’s weren’t anything amazing. I’ve owned 2 Vik’s. Sterile tone like furniture with strings attached. Haven’t tried yet the other brands you mentioned at the end, but a friend of mine locally has all of those lol, but he’s one of those guys that just gets guitars based on how good he thinks they look, so who’s, but I’m willing to be money they’d mostly also be guitars that sound like furniture with strings attached and otherwise great lol

I know them partly since they’re within driving distance from me, a friend of mine locally has a whole bunch of them too, and also because I like trying also sort of things (leave no stone unturned), especially exotic woods where their tonal profile is less understood vs the usual mahogany, alder, ash, etc, so they came up in my searches lolThat's crazy. I understand where you’re coming from and was the same exact way for many many years going gaga over all these sleek looking boutique guitars and just assuming they must sound as good as they look, but it’s almost never been the case for me (maybe you or others may feel differently)Wow, I’m gonna list my furniture on Reverb then, if anyone interested lol
A nice piece of food for though there. Everybody was talking so highly about Viks. But you know me, I am unexperienced barbarian hehe
I hope at least some of the brands pass your test, so I don’t go completely heartbroken lol
