Edit: Glass Prison was a Recto. All of Train of Thought, Octavarium, Live at Budokan and When Dream and Day Reunite were RK.

Wow, that was geeky.

I dunno whether to laugh or cry at how predictable it was that I responded. Either way, scratch The Glass Prison. It was a Rectifier. Same deal really since I believe he only ever used the RK with 4 6L6s, but yeah.

Cool, I like his "recto" tones just as much as his Mark series tones, I really dig the tone he gets on Train of Thought

I think for leads his best tone is Train of thought but if listen to him rythms there really really muddy compared to the mark series stuff.

Yeah definitely "looser" on the low end, but I wouldn't say muddy though. I love how big Rectos sound though for Rythm.

I agree! I think its also because he used an oversized recto cab compared to the tighter standard cab hes using today i used to be a big fanboi :D Which is why i own and love a Mark IV today,

He's always used Traditional/Stiletto cabs...

I could have sworn when he first used rectos he was using oversized i could be wrong!
Regardless i like his tight percussive tone with his mark amps.

His Recto tones aren't really my favourites but Train of Thought does sound real good. The tone on the new album is real nice.

I believe he used a Road King on the G3 DVD as well.

Don't forget part of the Suspended Animation CD was RK as well.

Yup, parts of Suspended Animation and all of G3 Tokyo were RK too.

I remember when I bought ToT there was a special website that you could go to if you put in the CD and typed in a code...it took you to some "making of the ToT album" content and he was going on and on about how he loved the RK's in that stuff.

Oh yeah...whatever he was using on the Gigantour show was unreal, He had the best tone of the day by far. Some of the best heavy tone I have ever heard live. :2thumbsup:

I must be the only one here who thinks his tone on Images & Words was absolutely killer. My favorite tone still.

I love his tone on pretty much most his albums, love both the RK and Mark series tones
