Changing tubes was easy, nothing to it.

The reactive load you can get built into the amp or as a stand alone. It does not automatically detect no cab being plugged in, so I just run a speaker cable from the 8ohm speaker output to the loadbox. See picture below: the usb is to import your own IRs if you want (no software).

That is awesome makes sense thanks so much for posting the pic. Amazing how compact that amp is.

mixed with that polished and super wide massive Diezel Herbert thing going on (almost sounds like 2 guitars playing).
That's what I heard as well...maybe more DMoll than Herbert, but still.
Good to hear that it does the more hardrock tones and Marshally stuff as well; I've been eyeing the Mini Nightmare (6L6 version) for a long time now. Has pretty much the feature set I need. 2 channels + boost (or 3 channels), footswitchable fx-loop, noise gate is a nice bonus (used to it from my Invader)...

How are the cleans, compared to say a EVH 5150III?

The cleans are better than the EVH, even the el34 version.
Good to hear.
Now, since your track sounded more modern, how would you compare the Marshall-y types of sounds from the Mini Nightmare with the EVH's blue channel?

If the Mini Nightmare is good enough, it could potentially replace my 5150III 50W as my smaller gigging amp. But since I play in a Maiden tribute, I need to have decent Marshall-esque tones as well, not some modern metal monster, that can only djent or something.

If you get it loaded with el34s or 5881s it’ll get some great classic rock and metal tones on the low gain setting. You’ll just need to re-EQ the amp accordingly bc I’ve found switching from high gain to low gain loses a healthy amount of lows you need to dial back in.

I may not mind that. I find I prefer more modern high gain tones with some healthy low-end, whereas low-gain classic/hard rock tones can be more middy and bright to me. Think early Ace Frehley, Joe Walsh, Malcolm Young... I wouldn't use a Diezel Dmoll for the best cover version of 'Shock Me', y'know? ;-)

Thanks for all the input @Dimebag11 and the clips, which definitely help. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on one of these (new build) after talking to the Driftwood guy (Marek). Am going with KT77's as the tube type

I assure you won’t regret this purchase. Let us all know your thoughts on it when it arrives! KT77s is probably a solid choice!
