A# F A# D# X X tuning

I've just tried 12s and they are way too loose. Will 13s do this?

Get a bass!!!

What scale guitar is it? 13's should be fine. I have a few friends who go that low, and they use the 7 string sets.

13-56 is what I like for A# standard.

I don't really ever play in that tuning, but a 56 would be too thin for me. I'd use at least a 60 gauge.

i use a 7 string set, and we only go down to drop B. not too bass heavy at all.

i'm using 13-56 in C# standard. and thinking about bumping it up..

anything below B for me is gunna be bigger than 60

kinda liking the 13 might go up a little.

wound G FTW

Hey mang. I use RotoSound .012, .016, .022plain, .038, .052, .060 for A# F A# D# G# A#

13 - 56s on a 25" prs just about cut it for me in A#. but ive recently switched to an ibanez mmm1 baritone for the ultra low stuff and the tension is way better. i think a baritone is the only real way to go for that tuning.

I have to agree with this.

Thanks man, looks like I'm just gonna get Dean Markley Medium 7 set, which is a bit thicker than what you have.

How's the album going?

Well, since you've brought it up, now you need to enlighten me about baritones, since I've never seen or played one. Please, don't say Ibanez!

PRS makes a silverburst baritone that looks pretty sweet. The specs are nice on it as well. Schecter has a C1 Blackjack baritone that you can get for $500 or under on eBay too.

It's going really. Got almost all guitars tracked and bass and lead vox cut for 3 tracks.

Music Man makes a sweet Silhouette baritone. I've fallen in love with it, as we've been using baritones to track all of our drop A# stuff. When we get back, we're gonna check out picking up a couple of those PRS Mike Mushok baritones. I got to play one for a bit before we left, and they're really nice. Also gonna grab a couple PRS SE Ones as we've been using a Les Paul Jr on a lot of songs, and something similar to that would be cool to break out once in a while.

With the baritones in the studio, we're using thicker strings: .014, .018, .026w, .038, .052, .074.

I've got a cheap OLP baritone..

bloody 30 inch scale tho... :aww:

Well, I've tried the lower 5 strings of daddario 12s and a 68 for the low A# on my LP. It still feels loose.

Jordon,
So you are saying these are good?

Yea dude. Rick and I are each grabbing one soon for the A# stuff. The Guitar Center in Villa Park has one in stock....They're also getting a MK V in April haha.

For bass, our bassist tunes his 5 string A# F A# D# G and uses a 135 on the low and a 45 on top.
