hey guys

here's a quick test clip using the axefx to put my git into drop B
the guitar is acutally tuned to C#

It's just a combo of some different ideas i'm throwing around
gives you an idea though

Feedback would be appreciated!
cheers

Sounds cool!!

Can I ask how the heck do get your axe-fx to do the drop pitch change? Ive had a lot of guys tell me that it can do it and I have yet to do it successfully. Maybe I need a firmware update?

- Put the pitch block in your chain (I usually put it before the amp...sometimes after the amp and before the cab...experiment there)
- Use Fixed harmony
- Select the number of steps in V1 harmony (i.e. -2 for 2 steps down)
- Leave the V2 harmony at 1
- Set your mix to 100%
- Change your tracking time. Lower for less latency. Also, you can enable/disable track adjust. You'll have to mess with these 2 to get the best sounding results.

Note that the default patch bank A has a patch called 'dropped D', or something to that extent. I think it's in the default spot of 20 in bank A, though I can't be sure.

You also have the option of messing with the input of the pitch block, i.e. global, local, polyphonic. I don't have an Ultra, so I can't comment on the poly setting, but I think it is more accurate for chords. Again, you'll have to experiment.

Best of luck!

Thanks Mark, I'll give that a try. I tried something similar to that and I was getting some weird sounds and definitely not the result I was looking for. With that said, I think Im about 3 firmware updates behind, so that might have something to do with it......but More then likely it's pilot error on my part :hys:

thanks for checkin it out fellas

i just used the drop tune preset as a starting point...think it's preset number 23
took off the reverb in the preset, changed the amp
and that was pretty much it

i'm starting to like the idea of being able to changing tunings during a song

Did you have any issues with, I'm guessing, latency?

I have a couple patches with a pitch shifter used in this manner.....and it seems to add a tiny, tiny bit of delay/sag. In other words, my VHT patch with a pitch shifter in front, sagged slightly like a Recto.

But, other than that, this does work great.

yes there is definately some latency and some 'sag' when i play very fast with it
Generally it doesn't bother me coz i'm not playing fast enough

i actually like a bit of sag in my tones lately so it doesn't bother me too much

Sounds really good! What firmware are you on, and standard or ultra? I was getting good results with my standard until firmware 8.xx when changes were made to the pitch shifter. On the current firmware, power chords warble much more. Last week I went back to version 7.xx and the pitch shifter once again sounded good for downtuning. I'm back on 9.00 now and I can't get it to sound good. Anyone else notice this on the newer firmware?

If you turn the tracking adjust all the way to the left (i.e 0 ms), there is pretty much no lag. However, you may hear some squirrely notes here and there. But, it tends to work for me ok.

Thanks, I'll give this a whirl.
