Am I right in thinking the massive increase was due at least in part (probably-mostly) to the fact that many millions of chooks were culled due to some environmental measure or another (Green New Scam?)?

Somebody set me straight as I’ve got a background in science and healthcare so I just don’t really know, but don’t we have machines now that do a lot of the harvesting? Do we really need human resources.
How are companies paying people that are illegal? How does a contractor tasked with harvesting a crop pay the help???
