Dual overdrive pedals?

Hey, y'all,

I'm currently using a Banzai Fireball II od in front of my Dr. Z Maz 18 Jr. head. I run the amp at "mid-gain," c. AC/DC crunch with the guitar's volume up & great cleans when I roll back the volume knob. I use the Banzai primarily as a boost ~ level almost maxed, the overdrive gain knob around 8 o'clock, and the boost channel's gain knob around 10 o'clock. That set up gives me a nice "hot rodded" gain sound on the Banzai's od channel, and a nice, almost fuzzy high gain sound with the Banzai's boost engaged. I think it sounds pretty good....

But ...

The Banzai is the only dual od pedal I have any experience with, and I can't help but wonder what else is out there. I know y'all must be familiar with at least a metric ton of dirt pedals that I've never heard of, so what are the best dual od's for boosting purposes?

(Fwiw, I also have the Banzai New Rising Sun II clean boost and an MXR Micro Amp, and I really much prefer overdrive pedals for front-end boosting, rather than the clean boosts I've tried. I am curious about the HBE Power Screamer, which ~ as I understand ~ combines an od and a clean boost, though... )

THANKS!

Chris

I looked up the demo vid on proguitarshop & man, that thing does sound good! I wish it had a second footswitch, though, so you could toggle between the two od voicings/settings. I'm looking for something I can get two switchable sounds out of, y'know?

Analogman King of tone also combines clean boost and OD

Dude, I *wish* I could afford to try the KoT!!!

radial seem to do a bunch of dual OD's and i've heard good things about them in general. not too pricey either

it's not a dualler but this guy has been known to modify pedals, maybe could do you a 2 in one of this?

i've been gassing for one of his amps for a year and a half now

I have a Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic that is a 2 channel OD/Boost and Distortion pedal. I've had it for about 2 years now and I really like it. There is also a 2 channel Xotic Effects BB+ preamp...

Baldringer Dual Drive. One of the best pedal I've ever played.

Clean boosts work great in front of a fuzz or distortion. Here are a few pedals to check out:

Rig-Talk Plank Cranker (limited edition by HBE, I have two. Pretty nifty pedals!)
Fulltone Fulldrive (the granddaddy of them all... first 'dual' OD pedal I believe.)
MXR has a neat booster/overdrive combo pedal out there too. GC should stock it.

Another thing you may want to try are two tube screamers or Boss superoverdrives - Some guys do that to great effect (no pun intended).

Pete
