In an open back Mesa cab powered by a Mesa Lonestar Classic, would you do twin V30s or twin Black Shadow MC90s?

I personally prefer the C90's, especially in the Lone Star. I can't stand V30's, even the Mesa versions.

For an open back cab and especially with the Lonestar, go with the MC90s.

I have a Mesa 2x12 3/4 back cab with the C90's and it rocks.

Oh wow. I wasn't expecting 3 responses in row all in favor of the MC90's.

The cabinet is currently loaded with V30's, but I have a set of MC90's in the closet that I was thinking of selling. I've been lazy about taking the V30's out and putting the 90's in to test them out, but now I think I'm going to do it and see.

They are great for clean tones and stay together better at higher volumes than the V30's.

Yup. And IMO V30's don't sound good in an open back cab. For example, on the Mesa road king cabs, the side with V30's is closed-back and the MC90 side is open.

I like V30's with certain amps but the C90's work great my DC5 combo's internal speaker and a 3/4 back widebody ext cab. C90's are sweet speakers imho. For most Mesa amps I'd go with a C90...

Wow, again, almost a perfect record for the C90's still.

I'll switch them out sometime soon and report back on the results. I've been running the v30's in this cab for over a year, but I think it's time to put the c90s in there.
