That’s not a good analogy. The equivalent would be filming a Porsche in 480p video instead of 4k. The owner gets exactly what they paid for, and the consumer of the video gets a neutered version of that experience- but they also didn’t pay anything.

Well.... due to the fact that your I phone clips sound better than Reza's mic'd clips any day of the week maybe that was a good thing he never followed through.

In some cases the I phone clips reveal how the amp sounds in the room pretty darn well IMHO.

Well to be fair, I took it as a snide comment at the time and I was the one who never followed up. Can’t say if he actually would have bought me one if I did. But I have no desire to go down that road of learning to record.

Some people, like myself, don’t give a fuck about recording… so I’m not gonna bother investing the time to learn how to do it. I’d rather just play. Whether some internet rando gets to hear it as a mic’d up clip or iPhone recording generally isn’t something I’m gonna lose sleep over.

i totally get that and that's how i am holding it so far, too. time is very limited these days. also the time spot where you can be loud.
i also don't show of my guitar collection.
but if i would post a clip to share for others to show how great my amp sounds, i would use a mic (or nowadays maybe IR). yeah but it's a lot of hassle if your not used to it and don'T have the equipment. i had a phase long ago where i experimented with recording quite a bit, but haven't in a LONG time.
since the lockdowns i don't play in a band anymore.
actually i want to pick it up again, and actually work out some ideas i collected over the years. i hate those shitty clips <- mine!!!
i always said to myself why record now? your gonna be a better player next year...
but lately my fingers are stiff in the morning, so maybe times ticking...
