Dumbest thing(s) you ever heard on a guitar/amp forum

One thing that immediately flags someone as tonally deaf or handicapped imo is when someone says that EMG's make everything sound the same :confused:

Yes....those bands and guitar players all sound the same.
Yes....my Les Paul's with EMG 81's and my SL2H's with EMG 81's all sound the same....

Probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard on a guitar forum is that EMGs DON'T make everyone sound the same.


Just kidding... I used to like them for higher-gain stuff, though I preferred Blackouts after a while.


The dumbest things that I hear/see on some forums are when mods close threads or ban posters for minor offenses or even just for sharing their un-PC opinion. Makes me feel like I'm attending a kindergarten class.

That's because all those bands use different gear setups which will make them sound different.
And everyone does'nt tune the same or use the same type of strings.
Above all that , bad battery and your fucked.....

I'm like , dumbfuck go buy a real Marshall and you will get the Marshall tone . :lol: :LOL:

Yep. Same thing with different artist tones people chase. Oh I really wanna sound like so and so... Which boutique amp/pedal/pickups/guitar will get that... even though nearly all the recorded tones people chase were made with pretty regular gear (and $$$$$ consoles/mic pres/compressors etc).

Maybe Marshall's aren't what the cool kids use these days? :dunno:

I settled on a DSL100H for my Marshall tones...it does Slayer, Testament, Exodus, Mercyful Fate, Riot, plus many more :rock:
 
The thought that cats with cash can't play as well as a broke ass losers. Stupid and sad at the same time.

I think what people mean, is that EMG's make guitars sound good (or acceptable) that would otherwise not using passive pickups. EMG and Bill Lawrence (by virtue of their sealed housings) help to block resonating effect. If you're playing da blues, EMG would not be the best of choice.

One of my favorite dumb comments comes from players who brag about how much their guitar resonates, then ask; "How can I increase sustain?" :doh:
 
Given that these forums aren't exactly frequented by the biggest minds, I'm thinking you're asking the wrong question here....

I remember reading on the marshall forum a question about what speaker out to plug a cabinet into. He knew the ohm rating of the cab, and which jack matched that rating on back of the amp. OK, a noob question but he kept asking it over and over again after it had been answered. I had a headache after reading all that lol....
 
Bradley and his shamray custom stealth build. True use of the word EPIC. Pretty sure he was run off the internet.

Another one was "OMG! my amp doesn't work! What do I do?!"
(2 days and 20 posts later)
"Oops, it was plugged into an outlet controlled by a light switch."
(He couldn't take the ribbing he got,and left the forum screaming in all caps "YOU GUYS ALL SUCK!")

This bothers you, seriously? How well someone can play and how much is in their bank account are two things that have nothing in common.
