Dumbest thing(s) you ever heard on a guitar/amp forum

There was a discussion some years ago about the impact of a guitar strap on the tone.
And it was not a joke!

The thought that cats with cash can't play as well as a broke ass losers. Stupid and sad at the same time.
This bothers you, seriously? How well someone can play and how much is in their bank account are two things that have nothing in common.

Yes, exactly my point. But you see it all the time on threads about expensive gear, how they're being bought by some lawyer hack to play Mustang Sally with. Crazy how common that notion is.

EMG comments bug me too...the usual stuff like they are "sterile", "make every guitar sound the same", "only good for metal", "you hear the pickups not the guitar".
I'll add:
-what strings/pedal/amp/whatever will help me play pinch harmonics?
-rosewood fretboards are cheap
-every Charvel would look better as a strat head
-80's music sucks
-90's music sucks
-nobody plays any real music anymore
-Jake E. Lee sucks
-why do people worship EVH?
-(this is a real one) my new Ibanez has only 3 springs holding the tremolo in place in the back, but there's room for 5. Do I need to add 2 more?

"Instrument cables are directional. I flipped around my cable and suddenly my tone was back...."

That is one of my favorites.

The title of your thread made me think of EMGs before I even clicked on it!

Dumbest thing i hear lately is " what amp to use to get a Marshall tone " .
I'm like , dumbfuck go buy a real Marshall and you will get the Marshall tone .

Also just as bad " what amp too go with my gibson,fender,esteban,etc......"
What are you matching up here.......socks.

Lolz.

My personal favorites

Direction of guitar cord changes the tone.
Size of the power connector changes tone.
Guitar Cables change tone.
My guitar got delivered and it was sitting outside while it was cold, should i open it.

Go to tgp for 20 minutes and you will come back here with the dumbest thing you have ever heard

There is a guy over there, Axe4Me, maybe he's here.....seems like a perfectly nice guy, but he constantly posts stuff that was talked about WEEKS ago like its breaking news. It's kinda funny, because he's consistently out of the loop. He also cannot refrain from posting pics of his own guitars when they have nothing to do with the topic, in particular a not particularly attractive salmon Kramer Stagemaster that he proudly bought at the fire sale years back.

Cables definitely can make a difference. Long cables lose high end, higher quality cables lose less though sometimes that is desirable to lose a little.

R U serious??? And to think that for the past three decades I've been plugging my cable in all willy-nilly, with ZERO thought to which direction! Will I get "backflow" when using the cable in the wrong direction? Should I play my amp and let the guitar do the amplifying when I've got it backwards? That's awesome.

I can tell a difference from a store brand $10 cable to say a $50 Planet Waves or Monster cable.

There are two that come to mind.
Any time someone asks strangers to decide what product they should purchase always pegs my Gump-o-meter.
And when someone asks for a comparison between product A and product B and someone always insists on discussing product C.

other than physical construction and shielding ... you cant... I just got done making the same argument at Best Buy when they tired selling me a $250 speaker cable. I brought in alligator clips and wired them to their $10000 Martin logans there was no difference

I can see no noticeable difference in picture quality from a $12 HDMI cable to a $80 HDMI cable but I can tell a difference in guitar cables. It's probably just my imagination.

Actually the dumbest thing I've ever heard on a guitar/amp forum?

"I just sent my '67 Plexi and $1000 to Mark Cameron to have it modded."

^^^^^ In bold......this is the dumbest, most consistent thing I see on forums in general. Do the research and ask questions.....sure, that makes sense. I can see asking opinions on a product for sure. To actually ask someone else what you should purchase with your own, hard earned money.......just stupid.

I shit you not, he just let us know Viv Campbell has cancer (in the wrong forum), including an Oct 2013 video link.

HDMI cable pricing is a joke. a digital signal doesn't degrade. It gets there or it doesn't. If it gets there the picture is the same regardless of the price of the cable.
