Duncan Blackouts: AHB-1 vs. AHB-3 Video (Kemper Content)

Seymour Duncan hooked me up with a set of brand new EMTY 7-string pickups. Thought while I was at it I would compare the regular Blackouts to the EMTY's. Used my Kemper Profiling Amp too. If you want the profile, the link is in the video description!

 
:thumbsup: Fuck yeah! I've been ever so curious on the difference between the two. Pretty similar but I gotta say the EMTY's sound better. Almost like they got a pretty balanced sound.
 
You can make anything sound pretty freakin good but I did like the 3 better.

I am a Duncan guy myself so I am really digging what you are doing with these comparisons. Well done! Again.
 
Gonna check this out later. I like the blackouts in my 7 but def will get another set if there is an improvement. What is the price on them?
 
I think they are about $190 for the set or $90 each.

Yup I am with you as well. I left the AHB-3's in the guitar.
 
Damn this is a tough call, I'm liking the mid bite of the AHB-1, but the AHB-3 has good dark low mids. :confused:

Dude, sick effing demo!! I love the AHB-3's, I have them in my ESP/LTD MH-1000. I'd honestly say THE BEST active out there for metal. Nice work sir!!
 
WOW!!

Let me know if I'm hearing this correctly but the 1 seems to have a cocked wah/more mid sound and the 3 is more balance.

Id say that if somone played with a very scooped tone they should go with #1 and if they already have an exagerated mid or use
tons of mids the 3's would work better.

That's my 0.02

besides that ,my Gas for the fucking Kemper is still raging hahahhaha!! It would make fly outs so easy :D
 
Hey man... great video, I don't have much to say about the pickups, but what I did want to say is you basically just did a comparison video the EXACT way I would do one... just back and forth back and forth.... THANK YOU so much for that... even Ola and Nolly from the BKP haven't clued in to doing comparisons in this simple format... killer job brother!!!

....I did like the Mick Thompson sig better by a bit, but they both sound killer... and I swear these Kemper videos are some of your best sounding vids man!

When I first started the whole video, nobody did a straight back and forth comparison. Drove me nuts. Thats what you would do if you could so why not do it in the video right? :thumbsup:
 
awesome video, While I waited for my computer to load I scanned my mouse across the statuss bar and watched you in fast fwd going back and forth looks awesome lol...

on a serious note, they both sound great and damn I love that Kemper.

I like the 3 better overall for the more balanced tone.

The 1 seems a little chuggier/heavier on the low end, but theres really only a slight difference. Like turning an 808 on and off with tone and od set to 0.........

Im tempted to mail you my Duncan HMET's to hear that vs the Blackout 3's lol....
