The Holdsworth is similar to a JB if I remember correctly. But I think it has a sweeter top-end.
I had the CC in a dark guitar years back and it kind of ruined it for me. I think that's a pickup that belongs in a VERY bright guitar.
The Duncan Custom is terrific also. Feel-wise it reminds me of a DD, but it's smoother and thicker sounding. Great pickup but it might be too thick in an alder guitar. But that's just my hypothesis, I got no experience to back that up...![]()

It does have a fair bit of presence, so if the original poster wants it in an Alder/Maple setup, it might be a little much. It rocks in my ibanez, it replaced a JB and Im not going back.
