so since switching back to tele's I was missing the tone I was getting from my strats using the Duncan Hot Stack Plus. So I put one in my hartail tele. I really dig this pickup! I've tried the HS-3, YJM, Solo Pro, various Virtual Vintages - this one takes the cake for me for a single coil bridge slot. Here's tune I just recorded with it. Just gotta find a slightly less ghetto way of getting it mounted (currently in a humbucker ring lol). Amp was my Ceritaone 1987 boosted with a Tubescreamer, HO Ultimate and my 1960 BX cab.

Nice playing! I was just looking at the hot stack duncans on their site last night. Might be getting an old beater Mexi-strat for a guitar project.

Nice playing man !...The way you are playing makes me think of a more modern tone with much more gain and lowend. So I think the tone is cool because its "different" more vintage flavored , not what I would have expected especially with that opening riff but it works.

Sounds great! In fact, I am surprised you pulled all that off with the gain you had as that is virtually clean around these parts!

Thanks! I think it's a nice in between tone - kinda vintage, but still has some aggression, but warm.

thanks! Actually wasn't too difficult to play - the magic of the plexi/tubescreamer, keeps it clean but has some drive. My biggest issue with playing this was bending. Since I got a Colorado, it's super dry and the neck on this guitar was super dry, bending strings was the hardest part of playing when I video'd this   I since put some lemon oil on the neck and it's much easier to play now :)

i hate you.
im unfriending you on facebook too.

I was thinking about putting one of these in a tele. That or a quarterpounder. I want it to be hot but still have that vintage tele sound. If that's possible? This or other suggestions?

hmmm... not sure - If I were you I'd bounce over to the Seymour Duncan site. I see a few that probably fit that bill

Killer!!!! Great playing and tone for days!

thanks!

Sounds good as always Darren. Sounds pretty similar to a humbucker, just a bit more edge to it. I've got an Anderson tele with one of their stacked sc's in the bridge….it sounds great, can't remember which one it is though.

thanks George! Yeah, I'm going to do some experimenting. I like that I have all the Strat pickup options with the humbucker ring. Many more strat options than tele. I like a fat strat sound with a bit single coil in there somewhere :)
