Was thinking of putting one of these in my epilady les Paul. Any thoughts on this pickup?

I actually use one in the neck of a Charvel I have. I just tried it out and it really sounded good for fast leads on the neck so I kept it. Looks a little strange with trem spaced neck pickup but sounds good. Very tight pickup.

Never tried it in the bridge?

I did try it in the bridge but it wasn't as hot as I expected. I am more used to Duncan distortion and it was quite a bit lower output in my experience. That's why I thought I would try it in the neck. I think it would be better suited for a Les Paul or already heavy and thick sounding guitar. Since that's what you are looking at it will probably be a good match. I didn't like it in the bridge of a super strat.

That makes sense, unless you're running Loomis levels of gain. But the thing intrigues me. My amps don't lack in the gain department, and it might be a nice departure from the Aldrich, distortion, and wolfgang pickups I'm running now.

I had one in a Universe I bought used. Out of the box, it was set closer to the strings and was so bass-heavy that I thought it was broken. But it I backed it away from the strings, and it thought it was a nicely balanced rock pickup. It's way different from a Distortion, which I thought was a high gain metal monster. The Pegasus is more neutral.

There is no subtlety about the dd, but that's what I dig about it!

No surprise that my stock pickups blow. Looking for something better and a bit different

Best and most versatile bridge pup Ive ever used by far.

I think it's an awesome pickup! I had it in my LTD Zach Householder 7 string through my '93 Triple Rectifier. I liked it waayyyy better compared to the 81-7 that was in my guitar before.

Thanks for the info. I think it'll kick in a lp

What are you running it through?

pgm301 and an ltd ec1000

And the amp?

It was being used through a 5153 but now mostly Bias desktop.

Sweet. I figure it has to at least be as hit as the stock epi pup I have in there now. The output is fine, but the low end is I'll defined.

Stock Epiphone pickups are fit for no one but a beginner player. They are microphonic piles of ass. The Pegasus will tickle your balls in comparison.

My thoughts verbatim. True story.
