How do I clean the doped area of my celestions ? or do I just leave it alone? does it dampen the speaker to have all that crap on there?

I did point out this gem in that thread :

"The bigger concern should be if you unplug your cabinet from the head or speaker from the combo cab when done playing? Transient tones stuck in the cable after shutdown will wreak havoc on filter caps"

Yes, this was a very detailed thread on how dust and debris affected tone. And I'm glad the transient tone issue was brought up too. Saved me from frying my amps many times.

My bottom speaker rounds look just like the pic in that thread... lol. I'll just brush them off and play at loud volumes for awhile. I just pulled this 4x12 out of a storage area. I have not used it in over 10yrs. My mom had plants on it... lol anyway, thanks for the laugh!

I just came off a quest to find what I could use to dope a speaker. My understanding is that dope never fully dries and would remain tacky indefinitely. The only reason it looses it's tackiness is because enough dust and other junk sticks to it covering the surface. You could pick out some of the larger chunks of crud if it bugs you seeing them. Other than that you're fine to let it be.

Don't change it up, it was all good the way it was....MA, THE LASAGNA...WE WANT IT NOW
