I have to tune all my guitars to Eb with 24 3/4 scale length. I don't like big fat strings and want to find a brand of strings that I'll be able to get the most tention out of. I've used the DR Tite fits for 440 tuning (46-10), but have had 2 bad strings in two different packs allready (first time I ever got a "bad string"). So I sort of want to stay away from them.

So guys who are tuning this way with the shorter scale length, what do you like?

D'addario XL next set bigger than the 10-46? think it's 11-48? anyways they feel about identical to the 10-46 in E.

10-52 blue steels
I was acually going to go with the blue steels, but heard they really wear the frets down fast? And I'd like to go with a 52-11, but I think most of them have a wound G. Not sure about that. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

Sinister 11-52 or elixir... it's not what I would call too big

Hey Jason, i think you're thinking of the 12-54 sets having the wound G.

Would 11-49 do the job for you? It'll obviously be tighter than 10-46, but the strings wont feel massively bigger than the 10-46 strings.
I dislike strings bigger than 10's, because they do feel noticably much bigger against your fingers and i dont like how that feels at all!

They come with a wound and non-wound G so you have the option if you want it or not, nothing feels and sounds like stainless steel strings in the heavier geauges which is why ill never stray away they have an insane amount of clarity and roundness to them.

Yeah, maybe I was thinking that about the wound G. I don't think the 11-49's would work for me. I need more tention on the E A D. I have a pretty heavy hand and I just sound sloppy if the strings are on the loose side. I have some 10-52's (Ernie Balls) on one of my guitars tuned to Eb right now, and even with them I don't have as much tention as I would like. And they also make me play sloppy, but it could simply be because I'm not used to them. Aaagghhr.... I just don't know. I'll prolly just go try.....something...

I think I'll try the Blue Steels. I did a search and there is a lot of talk about fret wear with them, but I never keep anything long enough for anything to wear down anyway.

Ive had to refret one fret in the pasy 6 years with this guitar using blue steels every string change (almost) and playing 4-6 hours daily, So yes it does wear them down overtime a little but its not like when you bend you see your frets shave off.

Reverse engineered / IBS Modded Ernie Ballz .25 - .02 sets for extra whiney tone

When i was gigging a lot i bought some Blue Steels and started breaking strings left and right. Back in those days i had to change my strings once every 2 weeks. With GHS or Ernie Balls i never broke strings. I call Blue Steels Blue Plastic. Total crap from my experience.

All strings to me die after 2 weeks so i guess thats why i love blue steels they dont have the most amazing breakage rate but they feel and sound the best so thats why they get my vote to each his own
