I have 2 QR's, one from 2006 and one from 2013 with B+ option. LOVE BOTH.
There has got to be a bunch of threads on this, so quickly...
Cons:
3 preamp tubes means less than optimal effects loop (tone suck), although it does have one I find it unusable
Earlier models have a more "fendery" clean tone (not necessarily a con to some) but not super clean either. I find you can get pretty clean rolling the volume off the guitar.
Pros:
Huge value for what they are...
AWESOME AMPS with weird mids, LOL!!
Great "Marshally" tones, gear 1 with gain at around 1 O'Clock = VH tones
3 gears, each with a bit more gain.
Solo boost is foot switchable, as is OD1/OD2
Scott is a great guy with great staff and they will help you out if you need them.
Later models included an upgraded clean channel, 4th preamp tube and adjustable volume on the effects loop.
Also, there is now a B+ option for a bit of a different flavor, decreased voltage.
If you are looking for that hot-rodded Marshall sound, the QR delivers.
Friedman also delivers, yet a BE 100 is $3600 new and a QR is $1400 used.
I want a BE 100, but...I will have to wait for $$
Try out a QR and then you decide.

i want one myself ,i find them to be the best modded marshall sound ,,all the good stuff of the marshall tone without the fizz ..to my ears anyway .im sure others love it ,i am only going by what i like

A lot of guys loathe the cleans on the older models and from memory they were the weak part. The lead channel however imho is as good as it gets for marshall type sounds. Not saying it's better than the others out there but man it slays! I want to add one to my stable one of these days.

I own an old '05 3 pre and its been my main amp since '06. I've tried a 4 pre with the updated clean and didn't care for it, tried the newer B+ and didn't care for that one either. The old 3 pre's just has a certain nastiness to them that I love. I actually like the clean channel on mine. It's not fender clean.. more like a gritty clean
Also, they can be quite picky with certain speakers and guitars

I have either owner or played extensively an '06, '09, '10, '12, and '14 B+. Every one of those amps were amazing, but the 2014 B+ is something special. The feel is amazing! Such a warm and smooth tone while retaining that angry Splawn voicing. Everything I loved about the Splawn tone from early offerings are there and all the things I wanted have been improved. Think VH Mean Streets Intro/Verse and that is the squishy gritty tone that the 2014 B+ contains just on Gear 1 OD1. I could go on and on about it and if you me to PM me and I'll gladly tell you. Don't buy a used one, buy a new 2014, it's worth it. This is Scott's Rachmaninoff's 3rd!

I have a 2013 B+ model and it slays!!! Only amp I ever lined more than my Fryette/VHT.

I wanted to like splawn. I had a 08' and 2010 Quickrod. Both had construction issues. I had tube problems with the first and the headshell shattered on the second one. The cleans sucked. The other channel was ok, but just ok. Its a really loud amp. If I were to get another splawn, it would be a nitro. I think it can cop QR tones and more.

I had a 2010 and loved everything about it but the clean channel. I liked it so much I was gonna send it out to get the clean ch.upgraded.my 2010 was one of two shipped to a store and a buddy of mine got the other.they were identical but his didn't have any bottom end no matter what he tried.. mine had tons of it.. go figure..they do modded Marshall very well for the money.. its also very loud and somewhat unforgiving with technique.I liked mine a lot.they are affordable and Scott is a great guy.id like to play a 2014...
