I use it as a dummy load brother. It can handle about 75 watts. It wont handle a cranked plexi on 10 though. It works really well with the boogie.
Doh, I thought you meant it can do a load, not function as a semi quiet dummy. I get it...

Like "do a load" of laundry?

very cool Steve. I do something similar but instead of using an iso box, I have a nearby small closet in my studio that i sound proofed and leave a 4X12 in there with a ceiling mike and a close mik to speaker....works pretty good.

Cool! Based on the smokin' clips you have posted it is obvious you are getting some killer tones out of it!

Steve

thanks bro...if i didn't have the accomodations in my home, i would definitely go your route, especially when playing non-master volume heads.

If you are handy, you could build one yourself on the cheap though...

I am lol. Two questions, are there basic dimesions that work better than others for a 4x12 iso cab and where do you get the big sheets of foam?

Exactly what I do Ant. But what I did in my closet is bought an Auralex amp isolator stand that isolates the cabinet from the floor so the sound doesn't bleed downstairs as much. Then I built a framework of 2x4's around the cabinet and once the mic is in position I drape 8 moving blankets over the framework that go down to the floor. I can barely hear the cabinet in my recording room and all I hear is the mic'd amp through the monitors.

It works pretty well.

Mine is 37"H X 36.5"W X 30.5"D which seems to work real well with a 4x12... As to the sound insulating foam material, I'm sure you can find it with a quick search online...

If you can barely hear the amp in the control room (I'm assuming cranked non-master volume), I'd say it works REALLY well!
