hello ppl, i'm considering to sell my fender std stratocaster ( as i'm not using it so much lately ) and get an Edwards LP E-LP-92CD.

what do you think about this guitar?

here's the tech specs and pic:

http://www.espguitars.co.jp/edwards/lp/E-LP-92CD.html

what do you think about its pick ups? are they good for classic rock-hard rock and metal - modern metal?

of course i'll play it thru the Herbert.
i read it's very good.
but you know..advices are always precious :P

thanx in advance and Happy New Year everyone!!

They are fantastic guitars for the price and I highly recommend them. Tone is quite thick and ballsy even with the JB.

Next to my Edwards LPs my '62 RI Strat sounds like a toy.

I recommend instant change to Gibson 490/498 pickups.

LOL :)

i love the Strato sound... but i'm into a more heavy sound from a bunch of years and i'm not using it as i should have to... so it's better for me to sell it and not to keeping it 90% of the time i play on the box...
maybe one day i'll get another one...

i hope these sh1n and sh4 stock p-ups aren't too vintage sounding pickups :P
i don't want to switch them in 2 seconds with EMGs....
i want to keep inside passive ones on the Les Paul

WOW i see from your page you've got 4 Edwards LPs :D  could you please make a quick video showing us the differences about their pups one day?uh and pictures too :P
thank you

I realize that this will be rather awkward given the praise above, but if you are after the LP tone - why not get the real thing?
A good ol' Gibson LP. There's nothing that sound better like LP than a real LP (closest I touched in the last 20 years was a Heritage LP).

Edwards are absolutely great for the price and the pickups can do anything from rock to metal. I like the SH-5 Custom a little better but the JB is a great pickup imo.

Sorry man, I don't think it's going to happen, at least not anytime soon. Sent ya a link though.

I still recommend going for 490/498 set with Herbert.

Thanx for the link
Oh this! I listened to it this morning too ;)
Sounds really good; I'll note this pick up set.
So JB is another name of sh1 and sh4 pick ups, isn't it?

Sh-4 = JB
SH-1 = '59

Duncan JB = SH4
Duncan Custom = SH5
Duncan 59 = SH1
Gibson 490R = 490
Gibson 498T = 498

SH5 & 498T have a lot of similarities, SH5 has more low end & thicker midrange compared to 498T, but 498 has that PAF cool sound & lets wood & strings come through very transparently, which is awesome to me.

Thank you everyone
Everything's clearer now
A Coca cola or a beer for you :)
Offers me
Cheers!

Edwards makes great guitars! The LP Custom is a terrific axe. I recomment the one with the lacquaer finish as it sounds a bit more "open".

You are from Italy, I see. What a lovely country you live in!
Dr. Olaf Krampe has an Edwards lacquaer LP Custom and it is a great guitar from his remarks.
I believe he has different pickups in it then were mentioned here. You might wait until he sees this thread and replies. Olaf has great ears for pickups and amp tones and may offer you different results then have been listed so far. This will just give you more options to consider.

Please don't put EMG's in the Edwards, active or passive. While EMG's have their place, if you are going for this style of guitar, go with pickups that bring out the best of the guitar as it was designed, and let the amp do the work. Slightly weaker, passive pickups will allow the amp to be more flexible. The total sound will be far more versatile. jmho of course. :)

oh thanx! :) yes Italy is a so wonderful place...the real ruin are our politcians....
by the way i live in Sardinia, one of the 2 biggest Isles

i'm a left handed player and the only Edwards in l-h configuration is the lp-92cd, and i add "fortunately", because i like this ( aesthetic wise ) over the E-LP-98LTC.

yes this guitar will give hospitality only to passive pick ups. although i like the idea to have another les paul with emgs :P but it seems like a waste of such a good guitar project.

thanx for all the advices ;) :D
