Edwards LP's. ESP Eclipse II.

Anyone own both at one time or another? I've only played the inexpensive LTD ESP's, always wanted try a Japanese made one. And all these years I still have never played an Edwards. Do these models give that LP vibe off? The Eclipse seems like it's a bit more of an LP for shredders. I was looking for something SC and I don't feel like bending over for Gibson prices especially if ESP is making as good or better of a guitar. I played some PRS SE245's but didn't really care much for them.

I almost bought an Eclipse II 2 weeks ago when guitar center was doing their big sale. Not even for $900 new could I do it. My Edwards killed it in every way IMHO.

Have had 2 Edwards Les Paul Customs and they served me well.

I have had a few Gibson LP's and i just bought an Edwards JS and i love it...Plays and sounds as good as any Gibson Standard i ever played if not better.

I had an Edwards jimmy page les Paul and at the time I dug it. Good guitar for the money. Every esp lp I've tried has felt like it was covered in a thick layer of plastic (poly finish) and they just don't play like lp to me. If you want a gibby buy a gibby; used. Plenty of killer deals out there for the taking.

I have an Edwards E-LP-92CD (Black Custom Style) and all I can say it is an awesome guitar for the money.

Actually I played (motorpud) Edwards custom and IMO it felt
Better than my go to LP std.

Not sure about the esp's. Edwards does have finish options. The JP I had was relic'd then shot with Nitro. That was a great feeling guitar. The neck felt worn-in. Personally, I like unfinished maple necks so the distressed nitro finishes appeal to me. I love the feel of my Gibson worn cherry SG and for the money (GC Used $329) it's a hell of a guitar. I changed the pickups out and that's it.

That was a killer guitar, very thick sounding and the sustain was practically infinite. That's the only single cut guitar I've ever regretted getting rid of. I think it was the LP 112CE model.

I have an R-8 that sets the bar for the vintage LP vibe and two Gibby LP customs. I had an Eclipse for a few months- didn't serve me too well seemed like a frisbee. On a whim I traded into an Alder custom shop ESP, full body ect. to give the customs a break from the summer outdoor stuff. Could'nt be happier but it is a top of the line model. I'd put it up against any LP custom coming out of Nashville these days. The problems with Edwards is I never see them enough to play them. The long tenon is the way to go for these climate parts-ohio river valley as just about anything I own that has the Gibson neck pocket and a short tenon gets the 14-16 fret hump from weather changes and gets dicey on set ups. Definitely try and play before you play when it comes to a Gibby scale length. Hope this helps!

I've not owned an Edwards. But for LP shapes, I have two ESP Eclipse-IIs, a Gibson LP Standard and an LP Custom. Out of all of them, I like the Custom the best.

The Eclipse II are both pretty much identical playing and very good guitars. I'd say they're a cut above the LP Standard, but only just. You won't be sorry you bought one!

Edwards:
Excellent Les Pauls for the money. Very cool neck size (middle) and medium frets makes them "modern" with a typical Lester's sound. The plastic inlays look a bit strange, but for me that was compensated by their sound. Hardware may need upgrade (bridge, tuners).

The laquer taste series still have a coat of poly underneath I believe if you are anti-poly. Not sure about the rest of the line though.

+1 for the edwards customs, I just picked one up and its a great guitar right in line with esp standards..great quality
