Edwards Strats, how are they?

I only have experience with Edwards LP's and ES'. Excellent value and very high quality for the $ but good luck if you decide you no longer want it and are going to sell it, even at fair market price. With that in mind it might be worth considering just modding a Fender or building a Warmoth if you have the skills or a good luthier. I took the same sort of hit selling a warmoth build as I'm going to take selling my Edwards LP but right now I could use the $ instead of a LP copy. My E-SA isn't going anywhere but ES is what I gig, the LP was for fun and experiments. Your decision should really depend entirely on being certain you plan on keeping it forever.

VonBonfire making some sense. You know, I don't think I've ever bought a guitar that I didn't plan on keeping. I have sold a few, but it never was my original plan. But I understand your point. I need to also figure out of these guitars have room for a humbucker in the cavity area.

I wish I had more insights for you. Some friends of mine turned me onto the brand so I laid hands on many of their LPs and none of them were disappointing in any way. But never seen one of the strats in person. The long tenon joint in the LP's is like a work of art. So tight you could just about not use glue.....

I never buy intending on selling either but unfortunately it's happened way too many times when stuff didn't work out. Now that I'm gonna be dead in a few years I need to be thinking about resale value since guitar crap and my house is about all I have to leave behind to my wife and kids once I'm toast.

Wow, that kinda changes the mood in this thread. Hope this isn't true for you. None of us know how long we are here in this incarnation, but I am at least happy to know my sons will still have my amps as some kind of assets to either play with or sell. None of my guitars are worth more than $1400.

I know this will sound a bit extreme, but there's an Edwards for sale that I really like, but it has 21 frets instead of 22. I shouldn't care about this because I rarely used the 22nd fret, but I do like having it there.

I've just found that 20 years goes by in a blink of an eye so a "few" more years is all relative....

Me and the old lady have both been pairing down our collections just because it's more to care for, more to move, more that can be stolen or destroyed. Keep the best, sell the rest is my philosophy now.

No experience with Edwards, but I know exactly what you mean about missing that extra fret. In my case, it's completely psychological. I've never missed it in practice, but if I stop to think about it, it's like... wait, there's something off here. LOL! That kept me from getting a Strat for a long time.

BTW, are you Dave Friedman?
