Hey, new to midi and footswitches. i was wondering if there is a pedal that would switch amp channels and effects at the same time, WITHOUT a separate rack unit to set up amp channels. i think its dumb to buy a separate unit when the amp i will be using has 1/4 inch jacks for each of the channels (Mesa Boogie Roadster). i have 4 pedals id like to use if that makes a difference. thanks in advanced.

I had a Joyo PXL LIVE that worked well for this...that one has midi, if you don;t need that I think there is a cheaper model.
There's a Boss product that has great reviews but costs a lot more + a few other companies out there with similar products.

I also saw a used fx8 for like 799 recently and that can also do it all + lots of "pedals".. At that price, it is a crazy good deal and so much simpler to setup. Traditional pedalboards have a lot of extra cost and potential issues with patch cables, power supply, etc.

Good luck!

Decibel 11 Switch Doctor would do ya right. Love mine

Youre in luck as this has never been a better time for pedal/looper/midi/amp control:i'll prob miss some but here they are:
Boss es 5 & 8
Rjm
Gig rig
Voodoo labs
Soundsculpture pedal 8
Crocodile tail
CAE/bradshaw
Axe Fx

Picked up a Boss ES-5 recently and love it. Should work well for what you want to do. Think it was around $399 new and has a ton of features.

When selecting one think about what you need:
- Size?
- Built in buffer?
- Number of presets?
- MIDI?
- Number of amp control ports?
- 2 sets of loops, one for in-front of amp, and one for amp loop?
- How easy it is to program?

I'm partial to the Musicomlabs stuff. I've used the MKII for years and haven't had the need to go for one of the newer versions. I learned of the company after looking at Pete Thorns touring rig. I haven't had any issues. Benefits are: it has 8 loops in the smallest package; I've seen them go on the used market for around $200; and they've proven their durability after being on countless touring boards. I use this same board for all of my amps (Marshall DSL, Bogner Shiva, EVH. Currently programming it for an SLO). Each bank has presets for each amp.

This, for sure. That's pretty much exactly what I would have said. Great, great product; rock solid construction and reliable as fuck. Having said that, the Boss ES-8 and ES-5 are really great too.
