I really don't know much of anything when it comes to the tech end of amps so, might be a lame question...:dunno:

When I turn on a pedal that is in the loop of my CCV there is a drastic volume drop. Something that I could fix with a fx tube swap or should I have it checked out by a tech...? Don't want anything changed that'll effect the tone.

Ya, now that I've written the question-definitely a lame one. But thanks in advanced :D

I don't think that is an amp problem. Seems more like the pedal is running at -10 vs. +4 or something similar to that. Try another pedal by a different manufacturer and see what happens.

I thought that too but, the same loop of effects works fine in another amp's loop. :dunno:

Do you have a mix knob or can you switch between +4db and -10db on your amp?

I only ask as I had the same problem with my JVM and figuring out how all that interacts sorted the problem.

12AX7 in the loop? try switching it out with a known to be good tube yet?

It definitely sounds like an impedance/level mismatch going on. If it's true bypass pedals in your loop, then when the circuit is engaged, you'll get the volume drop. I had the very same problem when trying to use Boss pedals in loops of my GCX that were after my preamp.

The CCV Loop isn't an actual FX Loop. It's a passive insert Loop, which is literally just two jacks breaking the signal between preamp and poweramp. No buffering or any actual circuitry at all. You can run into all kinds of level issues with a passive insert Loop.

My friend Darren had two CCV's and he could not get any FX units to work in that Loop without the volume dropping to whisper quiet levels.

You could try something like a Dumbleator or Kleinulator in the Loop. Something like this Vox unit would work well too http://www.voxshowroom.com/uk/amp/buffer.html
