Hey guys, anyone out there own a Mod 100? If so, opinions on build quality and tone?? Also I'm really diggin the SL2X module. I'm considering one of these because I can't seem to nail down my next amp purchase and these seem to be very flexable with the modular system. I have no experience playing or using modules, for those that do, do the modules give an authentic representation of the amps they were based on??? The SL2x seems to pull off the modded Marshall thing very well.

I don't have the Mod 100, but I've got a Mod50 and an M4. I can attest to the overall quality of the Egnater Modular line. Very rugged, very reliable. The SL2x is a great module for sure. If you're digging that one, it's definitely worth looking at the EG5. Similar feel (not exact), but with more gain. The SL2x is a great match with the Bman for cleans, and the COD or SL (depending on your personal tastes) for mid gain stuff.

I 've owned a Dual channel MOD100 since December 06. I primarily use the DLX, SL2x & EG5 modules. I also own a VX & a Dave Friedman modded Erect module.

-The amp has a fantastic serial & parallel effects loop, you can use either one or both at the same time.
-External bias points for each tube.
-You can put any type of tube you wish in the amp, EL-34, 6L6, 6550, KT88 etc... I currently am using a mix of SED EL34 on the outside (1st & 4th slot) and a pair of SED 6550's in the inner (2nd & 3rd slot).
-Full Midi
-Phantom power so it will power up your Midi board.
-Master Density & Presence which allow you to adjust Bass and Treble to the power amp section, so you can add punch at lower volumes.
-Has a fantastic Master volume sounds great at bedroom volume.

And then if you get tired of one sound, just take out a module and put in a different one.

You think I like it. :D Best amp I've ever owned.

Cool, thanks for the info, what is the EG5 module based on??

i own a mod 100, a few m4's and a lynch box.

outstanding amps!

i would rate it against anything else out there tonewise.

and i have owned quite a few!

Sounds awsome doubleneck, any reliability issues at all?? Does Egnater make their transformers in house?? Sorry for all the questions, but I am not familiar with the Egnater line at all. Oh, one more thing , are the modular series made in the USA,? I know the tourmaster and rebel series are not. Thanx again for the help.

The MOD 100 has been discontinued, so you'll have to find a used one unless they go
into production again when Bruce decides to ramp the Modular Line back up.

I believe the transformers are custom Heyboer. The Egnater modular stuff is custom USA through
and through, for the time being. NO qualms about build quality whatsoever.

About a year ago I was having a problem with the midi not changing channels correctly, and this started happening after a power surge. I called Egnater and Bruce sent me a brand new midi board at N/C. How's that for service.

Very impressive stuff guys thanks. Glad to hear the mod stuff is USA custom built. I thought I heard the Mod 100 were still available , just had to be customer ordered?? Hopefully this is true.

I love my Mod50 so much that I am currently looking for an M4 to add to my rig. I think there is at least one Mod50 and one Mod100 on ebay right now. As always with ebay, be careful who you buy from.

As I used to run Egnater modular. I was part of killing the last 5 or 6 MOD 100's we had to build. If you want specifics PM me. As stated from others the MOD series is done and possilbly being brought back at sometime with different production. Here or there I am not sure. Point is if you want a US MOD you will have to find one. MOD 100's are rare and I will still say are a beast with the right tubes and modules!

There are a few MOD 50's available from Bruce but I have no idea what his build times would be. As others have stated there are a few MOD 50's out there for sale. I have a MOD 100 still and it has the wahlup I wanted from the modular line. All items are built very well and if you ever have an issue pop up, Bruce's tech work is top notch.

I had a RMod100 (Randall rm100 mod'd to dual channels) Awesome amp. Was one of my favorites.

I'm curious about this too...so with the MIDI would you just buy something like a GCX controller or what??

Also check out the clips from the module modders: Salvation, Gigmods, Jaded Faith, DFriedman, VooDoo, Hilligan...

The MOD100 is one of the best channel switchers ever (I've owned SLOs, Bogners, CAAPT100/SEs, etc.). An SL2 in a MOD100 just roars, with thundering bass and nice, clear highs. I actually have mine set up with T/D, SL2, and EG5. Just a killer amp. The features are really well thought-out with the stuff mentioned above (MIDI, series/parallel loops, ability to use different power tubes, etc). You can't buy them new, and they are very hard to find.

Mine isn't going anywhere!

Ground Control Pro GCP….Yes

GCX is for switching pedals in/out of the loop. I would use a RJM RG-16 for that, much easier and more flexible.
