Hi all,

is someone using the TC Nova system?
I'm realising a strong loss of loudness and dynamics, when i have it in the serial loop. I was checking the TC forum, and it seems to be an issue, but no commenting from TC on the topic.
I'm thinking of returning it, because it really kills the lovely punch and dynamics from Einstein.
Any workarounds or ideas?

Or shall i switch to another effect unit?

cheers
Chris

does it have adjustable input/output levels like g system?

I owned the G-force and G-major and found this to be a similiar case in both units. (Very sterile sounding?) I'm not very tech savy when it comes to "deep editing" with gear so maybe I missed something too? Nonetheless, after owning them for a year or so, I just got frustrated and sold them. I went back to my Rocktron Intellifex and to date have not found any other multi-effect that is as transparent out of the box letting your original amp tone shine through!

BTW, I use my Rocktron in the serial loop of my Einstein also. Hands down the best effects loop I've heard in any brand of amplifier.

What f/x do you use? If it's delays, reverbs and pitch shift you're better using the parallel loop.

Yep, mostly delays and pitch shift, and sometimes chorus.
But i thought, especially for the pitch shifting - i want to double leads - it has to go thru serial anyway?

Also, somehow I can't get the signal 100% wet, so I'm also having phase-probs in the parallel loop

@ van hellion: yes, it has adjustable i/o levels, but even at max. setting, the volume loss is there.

Maybe it's the AD/DA converters, which are not very good?
I'll try to compare with some external high-end converters...

I do not have, nor have I even seen the Nova in person yet.
However, I used to own the TC G-Force and got rid of it.
I now use a TC M-300 through the parallel loop of my Einstein and it works far better, with a lot less complications.
If I were to get another unit, it would probably be the TC G-Sharp. I am finding that the less complicated the units are, the better they work.
Good luck on finding a solution to your problem.

ok, updating my own topic:

I bought a Mindprint DI port (AD/DA converter) and used the digital i/o of the Nova system.
And - oh miracle - all dynamic- and sound loss is gone!
So the problem seems to be either the extremly high input resistor of the Nova (I think there's another topic about this concerning the G-Major?) or the converters from TC really suck. :gethim:

Anyways, there's another device for my rack now.

cheers
Chris
