EL34 TJ option?

have come to read on elses post and mentioned about the twin jet being loaded with el34 wonder if its an option made available thru ? if yes its 100w I supposed ?

I went back to KT88's. 34's sound great, but are a bit flubby and compressed in there. Just my opinion.

did you get the screen resistors changed ? modded or factory option ?

There is a bunch of info on the simple process of going from 88's to 34's in the TJ, BUT.......

Don't do it, I just put 88's back into my TJ that had 34's and it sounds better with the 88's in it and the amp isn't even biased properly and is running on 3 tubes instead of all 4.

Switching out the 88's for 34's was a popular thing to do at first when the TJ came out, but hopefully that will die out completely at this point. When I bought my TJ, I could tell it was voiced for 88's after only playing on it for 5 minutes. With 34's it seems like it doesn't have enough bass and the mids are too strong. Gee... I wonder what tube would go well with that eq setup...

Just got my TJ back from a tech and have it running on all 4 power tubes with a proper bias. This thing freakin' rips, tighter fuller base, more balanced mid range, always was underwhelmed with this amp before with the EL34's and am glad I didn't sell it before trying 88's in it.

Just wondering how you like the Twin Jet compared to the UL and Herbert. They are all on my list

Through the same Diezel 412 cab, all three sound a LOT alike. Mainly in the bass response due to the characteristics of the KT88's. The UL compared to the TJ has more bite and is a bit tighter. The TJ is a little more open and has characteristics of a recto IMHO. My Herbert is different than others because it has all KT88's in it, and it's super clear because of that. Clearer than the UL even, there is no fuzz in the tone at all, unlike the other two that have a pinch of fuzz in a good way. The Herbert is just a super clear hi fi sounding amp.

Thanks too for the breaking down in comparison... lets take bogner TJ and Fryette UL into comparison.. of which has a more springy bloomy gain? Sweeter mids ? tighter and clearer?

i dont know but the sizzle may have contributed for using KT88? since herbert as mentioned is clearer?
