EL34's in a Dual Rectifier - Si or No?

I loved Ruby el34s in my DR years ago. Easy to swap out if you don't dig it.

I preferred EL34's in my old Trem-O-Verb. Soundgarden used EL34's in their Trem-O-Verbs also. Gets the instant Superunknown sound.

I like the little bit of extra bite I feel that I get using EL34's. Maybe it's all placebo effect, I don't know.

I've had several Dual Recs but only used ELs in an old 2 channel I bought back in '97...not sure of the revision. I was into Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, White Zombie, Prong, etc, industrial metal stuff. Loved 6L6s in that amp. Tried ELs in it and it went from sounding like White Zombie with the 6L6s to sounding like Scorpions with the EL34s. Not bad at all but not the 90s sound I was going for at the time so I pulled them. Love SYL so maybe i didn't spend enough time with it.

EL34's brings mine to life, I put Mesa tubes on it, do the job well.

If you like the 34s and boosting the front end you guys should check out the Crown

Imo ch 3 kind of gets that boosted Recto orange grind

and the cleans kill the dual rec more Lonestar/Mk

then ch 2 that is great for blues, rock crunch , leads etc

reverb is incredible too
