Hey Guys,

I want to get the EMG's out of my Mockingbird and put in new pups and upgrade all of the electronics. I'm looking at wiring kits and prewired kits.

Any experiences with RS Guitarworks vs Stewmac in this area?

Also, my guitar is MIKorea, so not sure what size I need to be looking for, i.e metric, etc.

Thanks!

What is it that you are looking to put in? I would just order a matched set of humbers for it, that will come with everything you need. I like Seymour Duncan. Are you a metal player? Yes? Ok, then I would suggest the Meyham set (Distortion), Black Winter set, or the Nazgul/Pegasus set. My 3 favs.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Yeah, I have two duncan buckers ready to go, but my tech said I'll need a whole new wiring system, and I want the best possible and have the cash, so I'm just looking at those all in one kits.

What is in it for a control layout? If yours doesn't have all the variac and splitter bull crap like mine does, I'd just get a couple of 500K CTS pots and a regular 1/4" jack. Half the wiring is connected to your pickups right now anyway. I keep a couple spools of different colored wire and cut of piece here and there as I need it, when doing a re-wire on a guitar.

Well, my luthier just convinced me I don't really need all that stuff. He has CTS post and good capacitors and said at lot of that is just gimmick, but some of the higher end components is better than others, but he didnt think I needed it, but he would put it all in if I bought.

He's been my guy for years. I trust him.

It's pretty easy to install pickups. You could learn how and save some money.

You'll likely need to ream the holes out to install CTS pots. Imports tend to use smaller shafts.

I've rewired a guitar with a fancy RS Guitarwotks kit, another with semi-fancy Bourns and Orange Drops, and others with whatever junk I could find laying around. Not sure any of it made a difference.

Another consideration is the feel of the pots. CTS pots are very stiff. The Bourns pots turn very easily.
