Ok, I see myself having to downsize my rig soon due to space...I have known for several years this was coming...due to kids etc....they need the room i have all my stuff in.
I suck at guitar...I don't even deserve to own a guitar..lol..but i think i may drop back to an 11 rack or a line 6 hd pro....i don't have anywhere to try before buying.
Out of these 2 units which would you prefer and why?
What are some good sounding headphones that would be good to use with these? I will probably not own a guitar cab due to space. I will end up putting whichever unit i get into my closet...lol...yeah for me   :D

People always write LOL, but I really did on this one
I often feel the same way, part of the emoptional pendulum swing of a guitar player who works a nonGuitar playing job and has a family

I have an 11Rack and love it. No, it's not the same as a wall of tube stacks, but for late night jamming on headphones it's really cool, records super easy with the included Pro Tools. The EXP with the Bogners and Matchless are totally worth it, the bass sounds are killer. I really like the fx too- not Axe FX, but really does the job for me. If you ever get a stack out, you can use the 11R as a mic preamp too. Reamping is awesome...lots of applications at a great price.

I use AKG 240s because they sound great, my Sound Sensi has them, and most of all it has a detachable cord- which is always the first thing that breaks for me, so this time I can replace the cord cheaply.

I agree with literally everything here!! Only thing I would add for home jamming is a pair of studio monitors...dont need to be expensive but just something you can at least hear when you are sick of headphones...

thanks for the input...i have been considering some powered monitors also....now...which unit do i want...eleven rack or line 6 hd pro? decisions decisions....just wish i could try before i buy

I too have a trusty pair if AKG K-240's. Make sure to get the "studio" version, as they are much louder than the K-240M's.

I agree with all of the above posts, also if you order from sweet water sound you will get a bunch of artist programmed patches. Most of them suck but the Steve Stevens ones are reason enough to order from there, and you can over write the shitty patches anyway. When you order make sure it come with EXPANSION PACK preinstalled ,so you won't have to bother downloading it from AVID.There is also a user site where people share patches. The Bogner 101b patches are really cool.

I have two Eleven Racks - one in my rack rig for live use and one in my recording desk. I agree with everything mentioned above; great Pro Tools interface (and way to get the software), solid effects, etc. The unit also has a ton of input/output options, including USB. Anyway, just confirming the info above. It's hard to go wrong at that price point...

sweetwater is out of stock on eleven rack....i checked musiciansfriend and saw this price...what the heck?
https://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audi ... 0000000000
They're high... (as in dope-smoking high) :D
lol...i'm still gonna research the line 6 hd pro some more also...but the eleven rack is on ebay from some reputable places at great prices ...also ...i have to note that my cheap laptop doesn't meet the specs of protools that is bundled with eleven rack...so that's useless

Yea that is insane id just wait for Sweetwater to get them in again

Only thing i dont like about PT is there upgrade pricing, Im planning on picking up an iMac at tax time and Lion doesnt run PT8LE. Im not shelling out 500 bucks for the PT10 crossgrade(never upgraded to 9), Im probably gonna pick up Logic from the app store for 199.00 and use that with the 11R

To be able to get new patches in and out of the Eleven Rack, you'll need to be able to load Pro Tools - it has the Eleven Rack interface that you use for those functions. If you aren't trying to run a bunch of plug-ins or dozens of tracks, a moderately powerful computer should work. Check the requirements and software compatibility matrix, however, since Pro Tools can be finicky...

If you buy an Eleven Rack from someone other than Sweetwater, shoot me a PM - I have a zip file you might be interested in :D

I appreciate the zip file offer ! ;). My laptop only has 2gb ram. The protools thing i saw required 3-4gb ram. Something like that. Ugh. This stuff confuses me. I know u can plug n play but i want to use software also.

Upgrade

If you're not using PT to record, you should be able to at least get it to load for swapping patches and using the editor. Haven't tried the HD Pod, but played pretty much every version before it, and was never impressed. Messed around with the 11R for about a half hour and really liked it. Been rocking it as a practice amp since!

FYI - I just looked on the side of the box of my 11R that I bought from Sweetwater just before Christmas. It says the minimum system requirements for ProTools are Win XP with 1 GB RAM.
