So I bought another EBMM Axis and the thing plays incredible. It has a certain feel that I could only think that it was maybe the strings. So I email the guy and ask what stings he put on it and he said that they were Elixers

He said they are a little more expensive but feel the best and last forever. I already know they feel good but do they really last? I've been using D'Addario forever and think I might start using these

Thoughts?

Yep, they definitely last a long time. I use Elixir strings exclusively.

Same here, my fingers doesn't sweat too much and I've had them on my guitar for about 2-3 months and gig out about 3-4 times a month, 3 full hour long sets. The tone doesn't change much during it's lifespan. And I use to change my string weekly when I was using GHS Boomers...... Definitely worth the money.

They last forever and feel great, I've got them on 90% of my guitars. The only thing that can be an issue as a seven string player is the jump in gauges from 52 to 56 to 68 on thicker strings... irritates me too since they have a 59 acoustic =/

Best strings I’ve ever played. You get hooked on them and won’t play anything else

By the way, it's Elixir. :)

I love them and use them on all my guitars. I hate changing strings and never wipe 'em down when I finish playing. These are perfect for me.

Alright, seems I'm a bit late to the party, but I have to ask...

Are all Elixir electic guitar strings 'coated'?? Is this what makes 'em last so long and feel so good?? I take it it is coated strings we are discussing, yes??

As I pumped a thread out yesteday about these boxes of Ernie Ball coated, I may trade 'em in for Elixirs if it's worth the while...

I have been using Elixir's for years now. I won't go back to regular strings.

Their accustic strings are equally good as well. Sound real crisp like the electric ones. No wolliness there.

Are they all coated? I think so, its their main selling point.

I bought a few Suhrs the last few years and they always came with them on them. I love them and use them on all my guitars except my Les paul. For Les Pauls I love the11 gauge DR brand.

yup been using Elixirs on both my electrics and acoustics and they last a long while, maintaining the tone.

I like em a lot.

elixer 10s nanowebs forever!

i'll mention that i do hear a difference in the tone versus an uncoated string, but the microscopic difference in resonance pales in comparison to the endless lifespan of the elixers. you get a tiny bit more spank and twang from good uncoated strings--i used to use DRs...but that advantage fades in a week or two of regular use. i'e had elixers on for months and the tone stayed bright and spanky.

i had one set on for so long i lost track and just started to feel guilty and force myself to change the strings even though they probably would have lasted a year!

Great thread haha! :D

I'm gonna grab a set tomorrow, I've been using d'adarrio's and slinky's off and on but have never been overly impressed.

Excited to see what this coated gig is all about, same idea as those neon strings or w/e?

Always had a problem with my strings lasting like 10 days tops and switched to Elixirs in April and now I doubt I'd go back. Well, unless I had a tech changing my strings pretty much every day then I might reconsider! Strangely enough, I tried them years ago and didn't like them but now I love them. They retain their brightness forever and I love the feel.

great strings, since i started using them haven't looked back

had one set on my practice guitar at home for i think almost 3 years lol and still sounded good enough, but most importantly still played/felt almost like new

more expensive but if you don't break strings too often, a set can easily last a good 3-6 months depending on the guitar

Wow! I'm surprised there aren't more dissenting voices in a thread like this. For me, I do not like them. I've tried every iteration of them from when they were first released in the late '90s, and could never really agree with them. Sure they last longer, I just don't lie the way the feel.

I tried them on my acoustic years ago and hated them. I wonder if they've changed much...
