I don't always use actives but when I do, I really dig these het set emg's.
I got an ESP eii horizon II with the Emg 57/66 pickups stock, I wanted to try them at least.
They sound cool, but shit these Hetfield pickups are tight, like toooiiiiiggghhht. Sound insane with bigger, darker amps like the butterslax or diezels. They have some awesome bite and chunk to them.
I like Dimarzio's and Seymour Duncan's a lot also, but these sound really good.
Here's the guitar before and after, I went with the goldmember

How are you digging the EII? I have been on the fence about checking them out. Really dig the Arrow V.

They are every bit ESP Japanese quality. They are the new standards.
I bought it from a really cool dude that runs extreme left handed guitars. He gets ESP USA custom shop / Japanese custom shop / ESP eii / ltd. He has to get all these lefties custom ordered, so it is basically a Japanese custom shop eii. Love it, plays like butter, the neckthru resonates through my body when I'm standing up playing it. It is worth well more than I paid. It will not be my last. I almost go an arrow, until I saw this one and fell in love. He plays them all and can't tell a difference between these and the usacustom shop stuff. They just get more exotic tops and crazier paint jobs etc.

Right on. They were blowing out some b-stock before X-mas and I probably should have grabbed the Arrow then for like $1649.

Yeah righties get all the good deals. They have barely any lefties anywhere anymore, cool dudes like Dave make it possible for us lefties to get awesome guitars

Congrats on the new guitar! Looks killer!!

I agree about the Het Set. They do sound pretty awesome. I have a pair in my black ESP CTM Eclipse and love them. I still like the EMG 60/81 pickups also but the Het Set does seem to have more of that passive punch.

Dude that looks familiar lol. Really like how yours has black hardware. I might black mine out sometime. That's a good looking fiddle.

Thanks! ESP's are great guitars. The guitar in my avatar is actually a Gibson LPC though.

Nice looks like the iron cross, couldn't see the headstock, go figure

Here's a better pic, nice quilt top on this guy.
Other pics were too dark

Yeah, the avatar pic wouldn't support anything but a tiny picture. It is a killer guitar. I had my doubts about doing the modifications but finally said screw it, since I love the Hetfield Iron Cross look, so I went for it. I didn't do any of the aging so it looks like a fairly clean Gibson Custom Iron Cross version.

Great looking guitar! I love the Horizons but am more of a Singlecut/Explorer player now. I have one superstrat style guitar and it's a 2001 ESP USA M-II but I don't really play it to much these days.

It was my first ESP and I ordered it brand new in 2001. Waited around 8 months to get it and it holds a lot of sentimental value. When I got it though I played and gigged the heck out of it. It has some battle scars to prove it's use. It's far from mint today but it was my first REAL ESP and I still love it. :D

Jealous lefty here lol. I miss my ESP's. My first ESP was also a Horizon, an NT-II in BKAQ. Had the sickest quilt on it............and I stupidly sold it to buy a PRS, which was my dream guitar but I ended up hating it (Curse of being lefty and not being able to try before you buy.) Tried to buy it back but no dice.

Thanks bro, I feel ya, we don't get to go into stores and try out 3 or 4 badass guitars and choose the best before we buy. I've had to order every guitar unplayed besides my first first mim strat when I was 13
