Anyone have issues with this? I hear it from time to time on other demos where people are using them. Quite often with lower tunings. It’s like a crackling sound I get from time to time that comes through the distortion.

I do have a 24V mod I’m gonna throw in there next week, is that the common cure for it, more headroom?

Battery might be dead and the Preamp has lost headroom.

I just got the 24v mod. Difference is subtle but it does seem less compressed

24 volt mod is meh tbh.
Could be me but I felt like in addition to adding headroom it emphasizes the lesser parts of the eq curve. I dunno, too harsh? I gave up on all emg voltage mods although 18 maybe seemed better, maybe it was the guitar it was in. I also wonder why clipping is “bad” as most use 81s for hi gain anyways.

Clipping as in it's clipping the internal preamp inside the pickup. Not a pleasant overdrive, more like a crackle that happens around 3-5k from time to time especially when I'm strumming lower power chords or double picking lower notes. I get this sound on both my baritone tuned guitars with EMGs on various amps, or even on amp sims. I can't imagine it would be anything else.
