Hey guys,

I just got a guitar with EMG 81/85 pups. The neck pickup seems much lower in output than the bridge, almost like the bridge has double the output. Any help?

Is the neck pickup sunk into the body, away from the strings? Try raising it a bit. Also, could be the wrong pot values in the guitar.

+1 on pickup height adjustment. also depending upon if guitar was new or used, maybe throw in a new battery.

Pickup is as high as it will go. Battery is brand new. It's like all the power is going to the bridge pickup.

Wiring issue. Try flipping the quick disconnect connector around and seeing if that's the problem.

I would swap the 81 and 85 and see if the 81 is low on power after the swap and that the 85 is working and not messed up. That will let you know if the wiring is messed up. Also make sure the quick connect pins are all there and connected and if possible check the female connections on the quick connect cables to make sure the contacts are there. Another thing to look at is the control pots. make sure nothing is loose or better yet a wire in not floating around in the control cavity.

Did you make sure the pots are the 25k ones?
Cheers,
Mike

Fixed it. Just wiggled the input jack a bit. Must've been a bad connection. Thanks guys!
