Do you have to use a 25k pot with an emg? I ripped an 81 out of a guitar I bought last year and I'm putting it in my charnel. It had a 300k volume pot and if I recall, it worked. Guidance appreciated.

Yes you need to use 25k pot with active pickups. If you want wiring diagrams check this out: http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/ look for Blackouts diagrams, they are the same for EMG.

Thanks. I have a diagram just don't know "why" it has to be 25k. Curious...

Well, you certainly dont have to, but it will sound crappy.
