I just got down playing an Engl cab from the the early to mid 90's and that F'ing thing ripped!!! I had let a buddy of mine borrow my Cameron Uber and during that time he got a chance to A/B his Randall XXL cab and the Engl. He was telling me the Engl blew away the Randall. I believed him and all, but I had no idea I was going to be floored by that cheap looking cab. It was so incredibly focused, crunchy, and LOUD. Typically I like to boost my Uber for fast stuff technical stuff, but there was no need. My Uber has never sounded that good. We didn't have a screwdriver or I would've been yanking the back off to see what was in there. The only thing I know about it is it's a rear-loaded 200 watt cab. Does anyone have any idea what kind of speakers Engl was loading into their cabs back then?

Well, I found out what kind of speakers were in that cab. They were V30's. Not sure why the cab was labeled as only 200 watts, but whatever. It was bright like a V30 cab, but the speakers held together better and were much tighter than any V30 cab I'd heard before. The master and preamp volume were both above 12 o'clock so that thing was cooking too. Anyway, just goes to show how big a role the cabinet plays because I've never heard V30's sound like that.
