Didn't some of those 80's cabs come stock with 65's?
From 1978-1983 you could find them in Marshall cabs. In 1983 they phased the 65 out, and started putting in the dreaded M70. And they sound like chapped ass.
When you find an 800 cab, with the input at the bottom, and the tag says 260w you still better open it up to know for sure if there are 65s…

Thanks for sharing your vast Marshall knowledge as usual 😎👍

Out of the 5 listed in my sig, the Splawn straight 412 with Creamback 75s on top and Weber Silverwolves on the bottom. I mainly use it for my Wizard MTL and Diezel Hagen.

I haven't tried many different speakers, just mainly the V30 variants and g12t75's plus some obscure, shitty speakers. That said I think I'm a V30 guy. My Avatar vintage 4x12 sounds so good to my ears, even better than my Mesa OS straight cab. The Avatar cab has a mix of V30's from 2006 and 2021 and they're chinese but they sound killer, no mid spike or fizz to them at all.
