Ok, so I am a bedroom player at this point in life. I have a FB100 that sounds great at low volumes and am curious how others are setting theirs up.

I don't use the bottom or mid boost and have the gain around 11, bass at 12, mids at 2, treble at 3 and presence at 12. Sounds good but I'm interested in how you guys are setting yours. Are you guys cranking the master or lead volume (I'm not cranking either)? How do people use treble vs presence? I typically play old thrash stuff (think Slayer), prog metal and stuff like System of a Down.

Huge Fireball fan here. KILLER amp. I set my channel volume at noon and left it there. I'd also keep my treble around noon and adjust the presence to my mood or ears at the time. Usually around 2 o'clock. I think a higher setting on the presence sounds smoother in the highs than a higher treble setting. The ENGL manual has a bunch of suggested settings for different settings, and they always showed the channel volume on 4 (not 4 o'clock). I traded mine to try something else, but I will have another. Next time, I'm gonna try EL-34'S out. I find those to be much juicier and less dry than 6550's.

-the mid-boost is where the magic is with the FIREBALL 100-

I ran high master low channel volume with my FB100. Conservative treble and higher presence. Mid cut engaged, mid control at half or just less.
Sold it cause I grew tired of the 2 dimensional high gain tone. No regrets.

   + an eq in the loop  Love my FB100 :D

I do the same thing with my extreme aggression head.

As much as I love the FB 100, and despite the numerous times I swore I'd never part with it, that day might be coming :(
REALLY struggling with this but I went a little nuts lately with new gear purchases and something's gotta give. Most everyone here knows how it goes with gear  Not definite yet but there may be a drop dead mint, never gigged FB 100 in the classifieds here soon.
