How'd you like the Morse? My problem with all the Engls i've had was that there wasn't enough low mids for me. With the mid matrix, it sounds like the option's there.

Hi Guys,

Bumping an old thread here. I have an opportunity to buy one of these and I'm trying to do some homework before testing it out. The band I'm playing with needs a classic hard rock/metal tone (early AC/DC, Kiss, Maiden, earlier Metallica). Honest opinions, could this amp do that?

I'm definitely into the super heavy stuff too, but a solid classic British crunch is key here. Thanks guys!

I thought it was amazing for modern sounds. Classic sounds? An old Marshall will kill it for that, or at least the ones I've played over the last year would. But they were all Camerons. :D

If I were going to buy an ENGL it would be the Morse. The mid shaping options are awesome.

Blackmore.

Owned just about every ENGL but still have my Blackmore.

Done.

Morse overall
Blackmore for the money
E530 if you dig preamps
Diezel and/or Bogner if you've got good taste ;)

I have Richards old one. I f'n love it! Great sounds and the built in noise gate is great. And if you have a midi pedal it really opens up more options for playing live. The fx loops are great and the tube driver channel is pretty cool.
