Enough PAF winding. Time for some pickups with balls.

Back to generalizations..
Would you say a lower output pickup brings out the sound of the instrument more??
Is there a difference between bracket mounted and direct mounted??
Inquiring minds wanna know!
Thanks for your efforts!
I think direct mount does make a small difference.

As for output, there’s a difference between DCR, output potential, and actual output. DCR is not an accurate measure of output. Not only is the signal not DC, it’s AC AC and impedance is frequency specific. Winds actually determine output. 5000 winds of 42 gauge wire will have a lower DCR than 5000 winds of 43 gauge wire but won’t have less output. They would have similar inductance, which is the more accurate indication of output potential. But then you have to take the magnet into consideration in determining the actual output. Two similarly wound pickups can measure the same inductance meaning they have the same output potential, but an A3 magnet in one pickup will result in less output than the same spec pickup with an A5 magnet.

An A4 or A3 magnet let the sound of the actual instrument through the best to my ears. A3 and low output being the best in my opinion. 8.3-8.7k bridge and 7.5-8k neck.
