I don't know about you but when I read the text about the murdered bodies with sunflowers and stuff it both frightened me and had me in suspense about what was going to happen next.

Meh...I'm a HUGE metal fan but that really didn't do much for me. Everything is rehashed these days, and in the rare event that a new band actually does bring something fresh to the table, it gets copied at the speed of light and then it becomes annoying. (like when KSE got big and there were 40,001 Metalcore bands shortly after trying to copy their formula)

Karnivool has managed to stay fresh and no one sounds like them...yet. Great singer and unique tunings. Call Me No One (Clint Lowery from 7D and Dark New Day) is a great melodic hard rock/metal project. Devin Townsend, Textures, TesseracT....but even they are becoming stale. :doh: :(

Music pretty much just sucks and I'm a cynical 31 year old who feels like I've done and/or heard it all already and I hate every new and old band, haha.

I agree with you on this 100% as I am a cynical 45 year old especially when it comes to hard rock/metal!! There is some good stuff out there, but you have to look for it!!!

You need to get over the fact that 80's metal and modded Marshalls are popular here. 80's music is far from the only thing people like here, read some of the recent threads on what people are listening to.

If you spell dew you get more of the eewwwww into it rather than doo. Some might interpret it as dough.
 
Couldn't take it. Its the same old simple catchy five finger death punch mainstream rock/metal (not what id label it)
 
I've been having a hard time getting into any modern rock and metal, pop, country, ANYTHING! Already bored of Animals as Leaders and all that instrumental "djent-space metal" It's all a gimmick. And the old stuff I grew up on is getting boring. Fucking hate the cheese that went along with the 80s stuff (not to mention horrible songwriting) and the 90s rock I love like STP, AIC, etc can only be played so many times...I even hate my own band, lol.
The only thing that's moved me recently and seems halfway interesting is Blackfield (Steven Wilson and Aviv Geffen).
