EQ PEDAL

Isn't the MXR 10-band EQ designed to be run full time with your amp? You can use it in different ways of course but I think the builders meant for the 10-band to be a full time pedal. I think you can go back to Rhoads using one like that.

I think it will beef up your tone alot. I know a few people who use them alot.

The MXR 10 band is the shit. I use it exactly as you are asking about. Set it and forget it. I use it to boost the highs and the bass on my Dual Rectifier. Won't ever use another amp without and EQ in the loop. It changes everything.

This times a million

Just bought a VFE Rocket on Reverb. I haven't had an EQ since I stupidly sold my MXR 10-band. Hope I dig this as much.

I'm wanting to try the Empress Para EQ with boost in front of the my amp . Great tone shaping plus 30db of additional clean boost .

try the loop even better!

Yeah, I've used them in the loop and as a clean boost in front for added gain. I say pick one up and try it out. If you're into rack gear, the furman PQ3 is an excellent parametric.

Another yes to EQ in the LOop

In front is good, but in the loop shapes the tone a lot better.

The Fish n Chips EQ is great @ just $29 and is not very noisy

I have the mesa 5 band eq in my triaxis loop, really like it!
that would be something i'd like to hear.
i tweaked the triaxis dynamic voice eq a million different ways and it never gave up the goods like the good old built in 5 band on mesa heads. i was begging for one of those 5 band eqs back when i had a tri

I run two - one in front, & one in the loop. I suppose, technically 3 - I use the onboard 5-band of the Mark V 25. My tone is pretty devastating!

I do not EQ personally but if I did, this would be the only one I would get...

Programmable and is apparently good enough for Gilmour to have 2 on his current touring board. Can store 4 presets which is cool if using multiple guitars.

It is not "loop vs front" both are required for complete voicing and tone shaping.

Loop is easier to hear so people assume it is somehow better.

Eq up front is "called pre distortion eq" you can tailor the shape of the input and push bands into or pull bands out of distorting. The most powerful tool possible.
