I just escaped being arrested along with Eric Gales. I'm at Neil's right now using someone's else's laptop because my own has been seized. We were unloading the gear at BB King's when the police grabbed Eric and threw him on the car, demanded his step daughter put her hands on the wheel and just casually told me to watch my step. The apparent law we had broken was impeding traffic. I overheard myself, Eric trying to explain we were moving immediately after we set a 9000$ amp on the sidewalk, and well apparently most black people don't have such expensive things are expensive clothes, hell I guess they thought it must be MY amp, the were certainly polite to me to a fault. I also heard Eric trying to explain that he was Eric Gales the performer. One should never say their name boldly to an angry police officer I guess, that's when they grabbed him and tossed him around on the squad car and all hell broke loose. So then they got what they needed, handcuffed him, demanded his step daughter come with them because SHE WAS DRIVING and I continued to stand there waiting to be told what to do....As they searched the vehicle top to bottom I repeatedly told the officers that the computer and Back Pack full of camera gear were MINE if that made any difference Hell, I had nothing to hide, but "That's ok SIR". over and over with the respect every white man deserves....Then the nice officers WROTE DOWN information for me on slips of paper as to where I could go later to retrieve my stuff, streets , numbers, clink something, Ph, wait let me call dispatch for you and see what the number there is, I mean REALLY NICE COPS.....I gotta stop for a minute and get some coffee. I 'm almost finished though......But like I said just a minute, and I'll wrap this up.....OK so last thing. They did all this, put Eric in the car, practically hugged me to make sure I wasn't scared or anything, and then told his wife and I that the vehicle was being seized because it was used to transport narcotics. And my final word on the matter tonight is this: not one full minute before all this happened all three of us in the car Eric, his daughter and me had just thanked God together that things were finally starting to work out for Eric Gales.I'm just really glad that I had my keys, cell phone and my non-threatening appearance on me while I was ignored by the Memphis Police Dept. Oh, did I fail to mention that I was the one holding the speaker cabinet as I counted the times I could have just got up and successfully walked away?.... I told Eric I loved him through the window and I WILL BE HERE WHEN HE GETS OUT. I hope he understood me. One clarification before this goes too far......these were NOT cops that were following us or anything. These were the same cops that were writing a ticket for the limosine we were pulled up behind. And a couple yellow shirt cops that stop people from taking the drinks off of Beale St. We were standing right ON the corner in front of BB's. There was just simply no parking there anywhere.
