Lovely EB's! My JP6 is my undisputed number one guitar. Really underrated guitars IMO. They really can't be beat for the price.

How is the JP6's neck compared to the Axis/Axis SuperSport? I was considering getting one until someone mentioned that the neck on it is very much like an Ibanez Wizard II neck, which turned me off of it. I really don't want anything like an Ibanez neck and am looking for another EBMM guitar with a neck much like my Axis. Is the JP6 that much like a Wizard II neck, more like the Axis or unique/comparable to something else?

Edit : I'm actually trying to make a decision between the Luke and the Petrucci for my "Metal" guitar, since I am selling my Eclipse and would need a more metal type guitar then the Axis. What's the difference between the 2 and which would you guys choose?

Sorta depends on what type of metal you like...not to be funny, but really the pickups are the difference here for me....Luke's active singles+hum vs. the Pet's dual passive humbuckers. Additionally, the Pet is 24 frets, vs. Luke's 22...Luke has an awesome vintage trem, the Pet has possibly the best non-locking trem that feels much more floydish. Having both, I like them for different things, depending on my mood. For metal rythym, I'd think the Pet, but other than that, its a toss up. Oh, neck shape is also a big difference, and you really need to play both to tell which you'd prefer I think....Luke's V shape vs. the more flat-ish Petrucci.

Edit: The EMG 85 in the Luke does ok for metal rythym I guess, but its a little thicker than I think most people would dig for that. For leads, definately cool, and the singles are awesome!

Is the Luke's neck like the neck on the Axis? What would you liken the Petrucci neck to? Unfortunately, I have nowhere I can try either guitar, nothing near me has them in stock.

The Luke neck is great (nice soft V shape)...it is more like the Axis than the Petrucci (which is a little more thin/wide and flat). Both are GREAT necks though....just a matter of what you dig.

you bastards!

i've been gassing for an Axis lately, but got an Axe FX instead!

So I get the Luke's neck is like the Axis. The Petrucci neck is sounding a lot like the Wizard II...which is disappointing. I can't stand Ibanez necks anymore and that's exactly how they are..wide and flat. Gah!

They also describe the frets on the Petrucci as "High Profile"...is that basically XJ?

I'm really hesitant to say the Luke's neck is like the Axis; it's really not, but it IS closer to the Axis than the JP. I think of EBMM's guitars, the Axis is the thickest, and the JP is the thinnest; the Luke is somewhere inbetween.

Nice collection!

SOT - How does the high gain tones on your AxeFx compare to your Camerons? I have 2 Camerons (Aldrich / Jose) and I am toying with letting one go to finance an AxeFx, especially if it can nail the tone and feel. Thoughts?
I love my Axis  I'd love to have grooveHT's Silo also ;)

BTW ToneKing, you still up for the Silo when I get back? I'm coming back in June now, a little earlier than I originally forecasted...still game for it?
Yes...I haven't forgot ;) I just bought an American strat that I'll probably sell, unless you want to do a trade of some sort

Pm me with that price again bro

Ok...I have sort of an idea about the Luke and JP necks, though I am still pretty fearful that the JP is close to the Wizard II. The Luke has medium frets, like the Axis, which would go a long way towards it feeling a lot like the Axis even though the neck may be thinner. With "High Profile" or what I think would normally be called XJ frets on the JP, it certainly seems like I won't be too happy with the neck.
