You won't see as many ESP's since all newly branded ESP's made in Japan and the USA now cost $4000-$6000+. The ESP Standard line is no longer available. You mostly have the Ltd. line and the Ltd. Elite line (now called E-II) to choose from.

Definitely focused on the Ltds. Some somewhat interesting additions to the 7-string line up, though I wonder why ESP thinks 7-string players don't like trems. An the AJ-7 could not be more boring.

Because they don't? Most guys prefer hardtails nowadays :(

I like the looks ESP Gary Holt and the E-II series. I may have to check those two out when they hit stores later this year.

The only things that caught my eye were the m-1000se and m-1000 ebony, other then that meh. Well the gh-600 looks kinda sick too, but I'm not a huge Eclipse fan.

Thanks for the post. I like the specs on the Andy James 7, but why are there so many black signature guitars? Show some wood grain or do some oil finishes too, please.

I have no problem with the LTD's. I just picked up an Alex Skolnick sig and it's a friggin killer guitar in every way. Tone, setup, playability are top notch. It definitely hangs with my Japanese ESPs. Gary Holt has been onstage with his LTD model quite a bit too.

When did they start copying the Fender headstock too?

I've always had a hankering for a reverse headstock V and that E-II Arrow looked pretty good. Would be cool if it came in some different colors. Hopefully the neck isn't too skinny.

Do you have a link to the expensive ESP site?

(I'm out of touch with the market for 7 years now)

Most of the ESP's available to the USA are on the ESP web site. The ESP USA Guitars section, ESP Original Guitars section and some of the Signature guitars are offered in ESP models also.

Where did u see that? I didn't notice any

the E II headstock looks similar to the Fender telecaster. But I do admit that I don't follow these brands much.

The Standard Series became the E-II series, the LTD Elite series disappeared. From the link above:

Last year, we announced a new series: ESP E-II, which replaces the instruments formerly called ESP Standard. E-II guitars and basses are all made at our Tokyo, Japan-based factory. For 2015, we’re proud to announce the E-II Arrow, a guitar with bold, aggressive lines and high-end design considerations and components, including neck-thru-body construction, an alder body with thin U-shaped maple neck, and an ebony fingerboard. It also includes an EMG 81/85 pickup set, and a Floyd Rose Original bridge. We’ve also updated our popular new E-II ST-2 guitars with quilted maple tops. These bolt-on shred machines are offered in four great translucent finishes: See Thru Black, Tiger Eye, Emerald Green, and Reindeer Blue, and include custom DiMarzio pickups and Floyd Rose Original bridge.

I guess the market for budget guitars is much bigger than for premium guitars. If I look at the electric guitar playing demographic, there are a lot of young players in their teens & early 20s that predominantly listen to heavy music. ESP are a brand i'd associate with heavy music. Ergo, ESP's bread & butter now appears to be selling budget Korean guitars to teenage metallers.
Beyond that, musical tastes & ears mature & you start looking for a more musical guitar with the money you now have. I've not played an ESP yet that has that vibrant, musical resonance to it that I get from some premium guitars. Especially guitars with less paint & finish.

As far as their premium guitars are concerned, ESP seem to have lost their way a little. The cost of an MIJ ESP standard used to be very reasonable. So reasonable, that I don't understand how they sold so many 1000 series LTD guitars.

Around the current price point of an ESP EII, you can get an awesome Ibanez or Caparison, both of which are superior in build quality imo & have natural finish options. Not to take anything away from ESPs guitars which aesthetically are fantastic, I don't think they play or sound as good as some of their competitors. I am an ambassador of the ESP Horizon with the pointy headstock. I still consider it one of the best looking superstrats on the market, but it was only once I started playing on PRS, Ibanez & caparison guitars & later invested in my Suhr that I realised how clinical the ESP was.

That is what ESP claims but from reading most seem to feel the E-II series is more in line with what the Ltd. Elite series was and a step down from what the ESP Standards were.
