ESP Eclipse Custom

Can't wait to see what this does to Gibson's already over inflated prices.

Just buy a normal ESP Eclipse and have it painted.

Or rather, there was a small run of full-thickness Eclipses in silver burst. Just look for one of those.

esp has gone insane with their prices the last 3 years.
i used to buy 4 or 5 new esp a year but i try to buy used now, i couldnt deal with the drastic price increases.
the custom shop stuff is really nice but i would rather buy another KL.
i had a beautiful custom shop eclipse in trans black quilt built in the k-custom shop and now im thinking i should have kept it. i sold it for around 2k and it was much better built and better quality than the standard eclipse that we pay over 2k now.

The Eclipse Standard are now called E-II's, same guitar same specs, but the price actually went DOWN, amazingly.
A quilted E-II is now $1699 MSRP.
The 1 year experiment with the LTD ELites has stopped as they are now part of the E-II line up.
They are $1499 MSRP with passive Duncan's in light flame burst colors. Price INCREASE of $100 over last year when they were known as LTD Elites.
The only difference is the neck radius is now the same as the Standards...er...E-II, whereas the Elites used to have the same radius as the other LTD's.

Sweetwater just emailed me and ESP finally shipped my E-II vintage honey burst w/Duncans.
Should be here maybe by this weekend.
Sweeeeet! :)
I paid something like $1250.

thats a great price, i like sweetwater.
i bought a couple guitars from arand raby.

I really would like to have a Custom but not for that price.
It seems that i have to look for a Gibson Custom and change the hardware.

Yes sir. :D

They are about 2 hours from me.
I've been to their compound twice, really nice facility.
They were building and expanding when I was there in late January.

LP Customs are nice.
But it's all about the feel and what your REALLY like and want.

I bought a beautiful LP Standard Plus top with AAA flame maple in desert burst, and got a great price as it was a 2013 and 2014's were coming out just a couple months ago.
As gorgeous as that LP is, along with a sweet tone, it just didn't feel right in my hands.
The 60's slim taper neck isn't big or thick at all, but access and playability above the 15th fret is just not good and requires odd hand position angles. I couldn't meld with it.
I returned it and picked up an ESP Eclipse. I like the neck feel and upper fret access much more.
It's not a quilted top as it's an E-II with passive Duncans.
Tone wise the ESP Eclipse's sound very much like LP's as they too have mahogany bodies with maple caps.
There is a bit more thickness in tone with the LP, but I think that's mostly from the Gibson Probucker III pups.

The LP Customs have a huge price increase over the Standard and that's unfortunate.
2013 Customs have "rich lite" finger boards not ebony, and MSRP of $4000.
Rich-lite may be a good, dense, and smooth material, but it's not wood and certainly not ebony.
The 2014 R&R hall of fame Custom has an ebony fret board all for the low MSRP of $8000 !!!

The ESP E-II ECLIPSE DB VB has a real ebony fret board, MSRP $1650.
New USA series Eclipse has flame maple and ebony fret boards, passive pups, MSRP $4000.
Should be able to buy it for $3400 after a 15% discount.
The USA series Eclipse's are beautiful looking instruments.

9k is nuts. I like ESP stuff and always have. I used to have an ESP Queens ryche guitar I got from someone who had it made at the Custom shop, and it was killer, but I just don't see the reason to pay that much for an Eclipse. If I were going to pay that much for a Gibson Custom Copy, I'd get the Alex Lifeson / Rush Gibson Access with the Floyd, etc, .. I think you can get one of those for around 3k or less maybe or a little more.. But, it's a custom basically I think with a floyd and a piezo bridge. I think that's correct. I think it has an ebony board, but it may be rosewood. I like ebony. I'm putting together a killer LP Jr kit that I bought from Canada / PrecisionGuitarKits that has a Mahogany body and maple neck with maple board.. love it .. Just have to paint and then glue neck on and add hardware.. This one just has one pup which I love.. Going to use a PAF Pro I think or maybe a Duncan 59 in it..

9K for a 1K guitar = 8K profit ... Japanese logic

E - asy

S - pent

P - rofit

Some ESP are nice, just not $9000.00 nice. Try getting resale of that.

ESP in the 80's FTW.
