ESP Lynch deal, knowledge about repairs?

O.o looks like someone with a bad case of the shakes and a screwdriver took off the neck at some point

Im no doctor but I don't believe those are the correct neck screws for that guitar. Perhaps someone striped it and needed to put bigger screws in to compensate, I saw that one a wolfgang I owned once. Of course on the Wolfgang the basswood body had sank around the screws and compressed, it was total junk after that

There are some pretty gnarly chips out the edge of that guitar too, plus maybe missing paint on the treble side of the neck pickup? (I'm not familiar enough with that graphic to be sure)

I think all those bits on the edges are the graphic, same with by the neck pick up (although the bit by the very end of the curve of the heal might be a chip)...... looks like they have tried to remove those little mounting ferrules without much care

I live in Atlanta and have handled this guitar. It's a rag.

thanks man, much appreciated. this is why forums rule, someone that has actually played this chimed in, now that's cool!!

Hmm, I remember bringing in my late 80's ESP Kamikaze I to that exact store months ago for a full setup. The ESP listed in the link above was also in the store at the time, which felt much heavier than my older Kamikaze I.

Anyway I'm surprised it's still there months later. I'd echo what kgsweb... didn't like how it handled though it was in dire need of a setup.

Don't remember ESP without plates...is this how this ones supposed to be or the plate is missing?

It's either missing the plate or was temporarily removed for photo demonstration purposes.

I looked at this one also. I would steer clear, that looks bad. I would assume they were overtightened and cracked out those chips. Either way it looks bad. You could always return it I guess but it looked bad enough for me to pass. Good luck

My Kami has no plate.

original Kami's had no plates

That I did not know. I guess someone added plates to mine. Thanks for the clarification.

The setup on this guitar isn't too bad, though it may need new strings. I'd buy it if it were in better shape; the first thing I'd do is swap out those Seymour Duncan Screamin' Demons for something else... but I really don't need 3 ESP Kamikaze I's :D.

I just wish whoever previously owned this guitar gave a shit about it.

The kamikaze doesn't have neck plates. the original neck screws were replaced with whatever the hell those things are. Remember the kamikaze needs to have the neck removed to adjust the truss. So my guess was some idiot went and over tightened the screws and stripped it out. Then they used those screws that are too big to fit in those neck pocket holes causing those chips around the screw holes. Same thing with those neck pocket chips. The person wasn't careful taking the neck off or reseated it like a dickhead causing all that paint to come off.

I'd buy that for maybe $400 and strip it completely. Dowel the neck screw holes and redrill the right holes for the correct screws if it is stripped. Then repaint it or give it a tung oil finish. thats a good guitar right there for the right price. That neck is amazing but with a bad setup is a miserable player. I wouldn't write that off. Give it a chance haha
