ESP M-II owners, shool me

I had an offer to trade an amp for an ESP M-II neck thru Japan made. Well the trade is not the point, I just don't know at all ESP. Never tried one. I had a lot of IBZ RG models, Strat, San Dimas but never trird ESP. Can you school me a bit about this guitar, neck profile, neck feel, Radius, sound etc!!! All infos are welcome

I have an Ibanez Prestige (I think it's a 2120 from early 2000s) as well as an ESP MII NTB.

I feel like the Ibanez neck is slightly thinner than the ESP's (thin-U neck profile I believe). Also, I feel like the Ibanez neck is flatter.

Having said that, there's a little bit of mojo with the ESP thin-U neck profile that really makes it comfortable to play. Both guitars are great, sound good, and play really well. But there's just something about that ESP that feels....right?

Obviously your mileage may vary, but I personally love my ESP.

I dont have a ton of experience with MIJ ESP's, but in general, I find ESP/LTD necks to be a little thicker, rounder, and narrower than Ibanez necks. The OFR is also usually a little stiffer than Ibanez trems.

Radius is 12"... not compound... the the neck back shape is much more rounded "C" shape (ESP calls it a thin "U"). I like them way more than Ibby. Very comfortable. A bit thicker and more rounded too as compared to the Jackson USA necks as well. They usually sound good. The only thing I don't like is the finish the use on their necks and fretboards... a little on the thick side.

Neck feel is more like a modern strat neck than a super thin Ibanez one. I have 2 M-ii / mirage neck-through ESPs and both necks a not exactly the same though so I guess there can be variance. In my opinion there are the most comfortable necks around in terms of shape and width - perfect blend between thin enough to shred but still a decent chunk to wrap your hand around.The necks are similar in profile to modern 'C' strat necks in my opinion.

I used to play mostly on a Ibanez guitars but since I got and ESP haven't looked back, I prefer the slightly fatter necks and especially the neck-through models that feel really solid.

I love the "thin u neck" as it has enough "distance from the fretboard to give it a feeling of girth and the fretboard is narrow enough that you can get great reach and comfort without having to have massive hands.

This is dead on for me.

I have a SS Horizon but it is thin U. I've always used a Wizard neck so I'd say it's much thinner than the ESP but the ESP just feels right. Something about it.

Now I will say I can play slightly faster on the Ibanez but that may be more to do with the lo pro Edge trem VS the TOM and not the neck.

With all that said, as a guitarist if you've never tried an ESP you owe it to yourself to make the trade

ESP MI/MII > Every Ibanez I've owned playability wise..up to and including Prestige models.

I own a maple fretboard ESP M-II. Great instruments, the neck felt great (not too thin, not too thick) and played well. Very comfortable guitar. I also have one of the Horizon NT-2 guitars, same thing.
