Never shipped one, listing it on ebay, whats average for halfway across the country....

think Fed Ex was $48 when i got my amp back from Golub.

thanks, I dont trust the ebay shipping calc, and the fed ex site seemed really high....

Living in San Antonio, TX, I've never paid more than $55 to ship a head anywhere in the country. Just put $65 flat rate and you'll probably be covered. Open a free account with fed ex and you'll get cheaper shipping rates too. Just have to maintain a CC number on file with them so they can bill you.

Apparently I get screwed....I've paid closer to $80 for ups ground.

Definitely. Their prices are entirely too high. I never use UPS anymore.

I have found that to be true also. Although I did ship a 40lb box out today with an amp in it for $20 through UPS.

I've paid $75 to ship cross country, I mean a heavy head like a VTM from Oregon to NY.

I'd go to UPS.com. (I use them inside or outside of ebay) Under shipping menu select "Calculate Time and Cost" then in question 1, select Detailed Time and Cost - it lets you put more information to get a more accurate estimate. All you need is the destination ZIP code and city, size and weight of the package.

If you just want a ballpark estimate, find a ZIP code for a town across country that is not near any major city. This will give you a higher price estimate so you are less likely to pay more.

Peace.

If you are paying more than $45-50 you are getting screwed. I just shipped *TWO* 2x12 cabinets loaded with speakers from IL to FL for $68 TOTAL via FedEx!

I allways use Fedex now, and is usually under $50 depending on the value of the amp.

UPS is usually gay because they hit you with these gay charges on top. Fuel charge / Rural charge..

Fedex is usually cheaper but I don't think I have shipped via Fedex as cheap as $50, through DHL yes but via fedex it was always around $60 , I guess us Californians get hit harder?

I think its because the stuff you ship out is usually ~2k +, insurance adds alot

The Soldano I shipped via UPS was like $50 shipping, and like $40ish for insurance

DHL doesn't do domestic shipments anymore though.

I shipped out my pedalboard to Rooster at TrailerTrash pedalboards a couple weeks before Christmas. I had FedEx pack / make a box for it / ship it and insure it for $4k. EVERYTHING cost me $90. That includes the box, packing it, shipping it, and insuring it for $4k. I've had so many problems with UPS in the past with breaking things, I just can't justify using them ever again.

Do you have an acct w/ FedEx? I found it somewhat cheaper by using an account, and setting up the shipments fully online. That does lessen the cost a fair amount than what you pay at a staffed location.

Hmm.. I don't see since I just recently switched over since DHL disappeared. Are there any additional charges to hold a account?

Nope. I have had one for a few years. Makes shipping lots of stuff easy. Do it all online, print out the shipping label, and drop it off! It's in the range of 10-15% off the normal shipping costs from what I've seen.
