I can't get into any of the screamo crap that is considered metal these days. It takes no talent to be pissed off while holding a mic.

I also find it a bit odd that, the trend is moving toward having a greater range for guitarists. 7, and 8 strings or more. But the "singers" have no range! They offer nothing but anger. I find these guys to be just as big of posers as any hair metal band you could name. If they're really such badass, evil people, why are they wasting their time with music, when they could be out murdering innocent children etc...

As far as power/euro-metal goes, I really dig it! Most of the newer bands I like are coming out of Sweden, Norway and Germany. Too bad we don't support good metal in the USA.

LOL! Could not agree more! I want to ask these screamers, growlers and garglers... what exactly is it that you're SO angry about that you feel the need to utter non-stop garble? Seriously... What's the deal??? You're internet too slow and it enraged you? Your McCafe chocolate shake too runny? The last duds your mommies bought you weren't "fly" enough? Based on the stupidity of these singers, you'd think that some poor, REALLY suffering sap from a war-torn middle-eastern country, or Africa would be SERIOUSLY "metal".

Bah... I guess I'm just gettin' too old. I don't get it AT ALL...

I think the screamo singers are constipated....Think about it, makes sense.

I agree. They must be full of crap.

Oh and take a listen to "the classic Helloween duo" Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen united again, their new project Unisonic shows some promise as well.

Thanks for the reminder on this, heard about it a while back then forgot all about it. I will be picking this up.

Shit, I posted lot's of prog metal videos a few years ago and thought nobody cared.

Just make a station or 2 on Pandora and they'll play you a bunch of cool stuff. I have a Pagan's Mind channel that plays some great stuff.

I like Jorne Lande a lot as well as Masterplan. He actually has a lot of 70's hard rock sounding tunes.

And of course a band like this won't get ANY attention in the USA. WE SUCK. This is more in the Deep Purple, Rainbow style.

I am into some of it and have been listening to it for the past 10 or so years. There really has not been anything really exciting lately at least for me. I am still into Jorn, Evergrey and related stuff and Jorn/Masterplan is my fav!!! No one has a voice like that and it is hard to listen to other bands since Jorn destroys all in the vocal dept!!!! I do admit that metal in Europe is far better than the crap in the US.

I love the fist Voodoo Circle CD!!!!

Primal Fear, Hammer Fall, Dream Evil, Nightwish... that's the good stuff. Real singing and good 'ol heavy metal rhythms and solos.

Speaking of eurometal has any of you guys checked out Tarot, Nightwish bassist Marco Hietala's own band? He plays bass and sings for them. One of the first heavy/hard rock bands in Finland, always been one of my favorites.

Here's a sample:

Nice! Have always loved Marco's voice. Powerful pipes! I always thought that the mixture of his power and Tarja's softness was a good combination. I don't mind the new gal, but it's not the same for me. "End of an Era" was my favorite Nightwish era for sure...

Here is one of my favorites that I threw in today. I was trying to think of something good to add when this thread started but most of the good stuff that I listen to was already listed.

Iron Savior-Unification.

How about Lucassen's stuff; ie: Stream of Passion, Ayreon, Star One and etc...? Also The Gathering, Lacuna Coil, and Stratovarius.

I'm a big fan of Within Temptation, Nightwish, Tarja etc. Add Delain's April Rain album to the list.

As for Euro Metal - many good bands already listed - and some new names for me (thanks!) - but I didn't see a few names that need a mention:
Gotthard
Fair Warning
Clockwise - (Only have one album by them called Naive)
Pretty Maids
Pink Cream 69 (and solo albums by their singer David Readman)
Stratovarius
teN (British Rock/Metal band fronted by Gary Hughes - also a good solo artist)
Virgin Steele (they are way into music about fairies and swords and dragons which I am not into but they made one killer album that was totally uncharacteristic for them - and it kicks ass. Look for "Life Among The Ruins". The Guitar sounds are massive and in your face)

Rammstein... How could we not mention them?

Some oldies but goodies:
Steelheart
Helloween

Forgot about Lacuna Coil! Have loved them for years. Never been overly impressed with any of the live performances I've seen from them (something seems to get lost and it always sounds much thinner/smaller than the studio stuff). But their studio stuff is awsome. Also dig Stream of Passion. Haven't heard of the others. Will have to check them out!
